Just tell them this is your last chance to hang'em high.

If you wait till the last day to register online you have a decent chance of being bypassed.
I did it that way the first time I was called after they went to online registration and they sent me an email saying they already had enough people.

Evidently it still works. My daughter recently had a jury summons and registered near the last date and she was told the same thing.

I have not been called in years but have served on three juries and had one case that was settled as we were sitting outside the courtroom on the day of the trial. I consider jury duty public service and a necessity.

I am way too old now but I remember being called for a panel for Tarrant County when we lived in Bedford. I seem to remember there were 1500 on the initial callup. Took a while just take the roll! Not a fun day!

Being a white Republican male probably means the prosecution will want you but the defense will want to strike you.

During voir dire tell them "If he wasn't guilty they wouldn't be trying him. I actually saw that used. The guy was escorted out right then.

Too old now, but as a former criminal investigator, I was called several times, but quickly rejected by the defense lawyers. Last thing they want is someone who knows something about the laws.

A friend of mine who was a detective actually got a jury summons for a case he had investigated and filed. There were some red faces there that day....... I don't know why they even send jury summons' to cops; no defense attorney will ever allow one on his jury. I did get picked once in JP court; the defendant was representing himself and I was actually picked. The trooper who issued the citation nearly fell out of the witness chair when he saw me in the jury box. The jury foreman actually thought it was illegal for a cop to be a juror.

I was on a jury once. I never ever want to do that again. It was a horrible experience.

I got one back in 1990. The questionnaire took a 1/2 hour to complete. I had to call in every Friday evening to see if I needed to drive to Sherman to the NE district courthouse. I had to do thus for about 5 months. I travelled quite a bit for work and sometimes I had to call when out of town. During that 5 months most cases were settled out of court and the ones that were not I had no problem not getting chosen. The last time I was called for county the judge told us before the selection process started that if you are on the front row and do say anything you will be chosen. I already knew that and was struck on about the 3rd or 4th question.

Haven't been called in years. Wouldn't go if I was called.

This just reminded me I still haven't got my $6 check from serving back in May.

I was picked on a capital murder jury right after 911, They did ask if anybody felt they could not serve because of that.
It lasted a full week and part of another. Two yrs later I was summoned to another jury, During selection It was discovered me and 2 others that had been on that jury were there also. Judge dismissed all three of us.

Called for a Capital a few years back... Guy was already serving for two murders and was now being tried for an attempted murder on a police officer. As someone else metioned, just getting the jury set took several days. I was actually no. 7 on the call list but eventually got dismissed b/c myself and another man and women were talking about the guys teardrop tats on his face during a break. We weren't supposed to be discussing the case, and I get it, but let's be real, who doesn't know what teardrop tattoo's represent... I think that was day 3, so I was actually glad to get out of there. The guys was already service multiple life sentances, so the whole deal seemed kinda pointless to me anyway.

This thread cursed me. Got summoned for the 21st. Same day I have an endoscopy scheduled

I always wanted to pull jury duty and never got the chance being related to a bunch of police officers. I graduated to the witness stand and will be testifying against to two a holes trying to steal my neighbors vehicles. This should be interesting.
