Anybody a fan of the (extremely uncomfortably named) Mannlicher stock? I've always been a fan of that old timey retro look when the wood is nice. I've always thought they were beautiful; I almost bought a Mannlicher-stocked Sako once. But day in and day out, Mannlicher-stocked rifles need more work to get less accuracy out of them than classic-stocked rifles; they just mess up the barrel harmonics. Along with that Sako, I always lusted after a Ruger #3 chambered in .22LR.

I'm the 3rd generation owner of a pre 64' model 70 .270, it's got a few battle scars but it just flat out shoots. My son was the 4th generation to harvest a buck with it, I honestly don't know if that rifle has ever missed.

Prettiest and most accurate, while being a .270 or .30/06 kinda limits brands. Weatherby doesn’t have normal rounds, all are their own loads. I like the looks of the Nosler rifles (synthetic stocks though), but their rounds aren’t normal either. Some of the Weatherby Mark V they make in 30-06 and virtually all of the Vanguards.

If you want the best of pretty and accurate, try to find an old Kleinguenther.

Weatherby Vanguard for me in .308. Nikon optics. Very accurate and consistent right out of the box.

I don't know who made this, but this is going to be my next build. It was love at first sight. And yeah, the old fashioned wood grains are becoming more and more collector stuff, IMO. Seems the big black scary guns are all the rage. That's hilariously ugly...
