Are you sure that you have the trailer cinched down really tight? The weight of the motor should hold it down against the totor. Don’t be afraid to run it down hard against the totor. Remember your motor doesn’t have power down, it’s just the weight of the motor that gives it downward force. You may also trying lowering it some so that you have the most weight possible against roller. I think there is more than the weight of the motor holding the motor down. Otherwise, the motor would flip up into the back deck when in reverse.  I have never, in 30 years, needed anything to attach the motor to a trailer. I used, and still use, a trim saver. If the motor is bouncing, there is other issues. Transom rot, trim motor, motor mounts, steering worn….something else is wrong.

My  I have seen trailer to motor transom savers in rigs crossing rough RR tracks and the stress from the trailer to the motor and transom is not good. I agree the weight of the motor hanging on the transom is not great either but I think the bracket type savers help distribute the weight and mainly save the power trim. I think the stress on the transom is greater with the boat in the water not only pushing the total weight of the boat forward especially into rough water but also lifting the complete weight of the boat.... Probably the best TS I have seen was a trailer to motor with a shock in the center. But my rear cross member on my trailer is set back too far under the boat to use any of those type anyway.

From my research both types are suppose to work just fine. I just repowered my boat and the manual states the preferred method is motor all the way down but if that is not possible , it recommends using the old aluminum brace. Sounds like your trim unit to me. I think the hydraulics pull it down so it isn't just the weight.

I could lift my motor by hand a few inches when it was in the down position so that looseness allowed it to bounce. enough for the transom saver to come off the roller. I tried the other deal also that doesn't hold hit at all so it bounces more

I tried the other deal also that doesn't hold hit at all so it bounces more You've got problems that a motor toter is not going to fix if you can lift your motor that way. Absolutely. There is some broken stuff on your motor. Needs more than supports.

They absolutely power down. There isn’t a motor on a bass boat that doesn’t.
