I'm at the age now, if there is ice on the drive I stay home. If I look and no ice, I then crack 2 trays of ice and throw it out there and call in. For over 40 years I made it 40 miles one way away to work no matter what. I'm done with that BS. Way more idiots on the road now that I don't care to be around.

I NEVER missed work due to weather. I'm one of those that lived the farthest and always made it to work while one's living a 1/3 of the distance never made it. Problem is, they made as much or more than I did and nothing ever changed. Companies don't reward good employee's anymore.

I would take a light weight front wheel drive car over a heavy 4WD truck any day on ice. Snow is a different story, but on ice the light weight, low center of gravity with all weight on drive wheels makes all the difference.

The old line about "I'm not worried about me doing something stupid but more about someone else doing something stupid" kinda goes out the window these days. People do stupid stuff on the roads every day. It's like everyone wants to drive in a demolition derby

Not happening

This, the ones that don’t come in are better at calculating risk versus reward, should be promoted into management!

One year, many years ago we had ice and the only person who did not make it to work that day lived about a mile from the office. Some carriers left over an hour early and drove as far as 40 miles to get to work yet the one who could not make it was 5 minutes away.

Another one, when I was a supervisor, we had a guy who was never quite right who drove from S Ft Worth during an ice event on his motorcycle. Took him 4 hours to get to work and he was the last person to leave as I was locking up the door that evening. I told him to follow me home to no avail. It took him 4 hours to get home.

And let me add that if you drive an 18 wheeler let's put the bucket of truck stop chicken down kick the lot lizard out of truck and get the freight moving. Truck drivers have become the pansies of the world.

There are people who find a way and people who find an excuse. The excuse finders are out breeding us.

I would have shut down in this. drivers are considered "professional" in the eyes of the court so any wreck in this stuff is automatically their fault till proven otherwise.

I drove in all kinds of weather till the idiots got to be too thick then you shut down and wait some.

no fun at all trying to stop 80,000# on ice no matter how fast you are going and seeing the taillights on the trailer was always a real bad thing.

Went to work. 95% of the people on the roads today know what they are doing. It’s that other 5% that need to stay home.

Sounds like THF member. They like to wear flannel shirts and refer to their pocket knives as their EDC. They say stuff like got your six etc. Then the ice comes and they act like soccer moms.
