hey guys i'm in my thirty and let me tell you in your tweenties you are not a kid. these guys should have done what is right. it took a couple of good knocks on my head (local gov assisted) to straiten me out. but i would not have run from the scene. i also stood up and took my licks. these adults should serve jail time. or better yet let them get on paper(probation). anything you do ,traffic ticket etc. could land you in jail for the term of your paper.these guys are not kids eventhough they act like it.

I am glad things worked out. Good luck with the legal process.

I personally say just get a rope.

I am afraid that the newest way to ruin peaceful fishing has arrived. Have you seen anyone "Lake Surfing" yet? The newest fad is to make your boat plow up a tremendous wake and "surf" the monster wake just aft of the boat (about 5 feet behind it). No ski rope or anything after you get up on plane. The front of the boat is allways WAY up in the air (to make a huge wake) and the driver cant see anything in front of him. Here on lake Brownwood it is all the rage. You cant fish the bridge or dam anymore in the afternoon because of all of them. We have resorted to night fishing on weekends because of it. I don't want to get run over or swamped!...Jim

I promise you can see what's in front of the boat while surfing. A properly weighted boat for surfing will not impair driver vision.

I don't understand the actions of these kids..I consider myself "young"(late twenties). How someone wouldn't render aid is beyond me.

When I was 16 I hit a parked car in a restaurant's parking lot. I didn't really do much damage to the vehicle..a small dent. Even in that scenario I put my contact info on the guys windshield. Got the call and explained what happened..then wrote the check for the fix. Not to pat myself on the back, but I was 16..and these kids didn't stop at the age of 22 to render aid to someone they potentially seriously hurt.

WoW! I've spoken with some old High-School teachers, and they have said that even in the last 10 years kids have changed. What were considered A-B students are now slacking just to get C's and have now worries about what will happen after high-school. Just as long as daddy keeps paying for things.

As a high school teacher for the past 19 years, I can agree with your teachers when they say students have changed.

Many are not held accountable for their actions at home, so they don't feel that they should be held accountable anywhere else.

Manners and respect seem to have all but gone out the window as well.

These little turds were not "freaked" out about possibly having hurt someone or damaged someone elses boat. The driver was freaked out that he damaged his daddy's boat. The Father needs to pray for himself and his son because he failed his son and his son failed his father.

Maybe next time I'm in a boat I'll reconsider packing my Sig Sauer 9mm plus two 20 round clips for a grand total of 56 rounds of Cor-Bon 9mm hollow points. Because if some wacko came at me and my kids I'd only be thinking about my kids and I'd have opened up! Personally I think people in a situation like that should be let completely off for letting a few go downrange but with the way things are today I'd have gone to prison. Even Christians believe in self defense. Especially defense of family.

I sure hope you're one of those knowledgeable responsible gun-toters who maintains awareness of what's in his line of fire beyond the target....................besides which.........does "letting a few go downrange" fall under the heading of "defense"..............or "revenge"?. Just asking.

btw, don't bother aiming at their hull below the waterline.......mythbusters proved that to be ineffective....... wink

I have been following this post from the beginning, Never underestimate the TFFer's, I guess we'll never understand. We took my grandson to the movies Friday night in Forney, to come out and find the new Navigator keyed, with an obscene note. Maybe in God's way this post will help change somebody.

What do you think the proper punishment should be? Fine, jail, community service?

At my old job, and guy left his kid in the car "by accident". It was mid summer and the kid was dead by 10am. The kicker is, the same guy did the same thing a week before. I know this because I heard the kid crying on my walk into work and told the father. He acted like I was kidding at first, then ran out to his vehicle to drop the child off a daycare. Does anyone want to guess how much time he had to spend in prison for killing his own child?

Always aware of whats behind. Dont miss (the laser helps)and I'd never waste my time with the water line.

I have thought some more and pondered the possibility of just popping a few rounds straight into the water. Wonder if the sound of the gun going off would have caught the drivers attention? Surely a few through the windshield would have. How about a Flare Gun! Maybe all boats should have a flaregun.

I love Mythbusters. Amazing that the 50 BMG could only penetrate 3ft or so of water. HOWEVER slower pistol rounds were lethal to 8ft of water! Yeah, thats why I carry a 9mm instead of a 50....sure.

Anyway, I'm glad the good Lord took care of things and no one got hurt even the wrong doers. Best of all its great that this may all turn around and benefit scores of people who may learn about boater safety or be more closely watched by officials.

Proverbs you have got to be kidding! First off who are you to judge the Father? Why do you feel that the father failed? The son failed himself! He is old enough to be responsible for his own actions.
Then you sound like a complete fool talking about your gun and what you would do! Amazing! Your exactly the kind of person who gives ammunition to all the anti gun people! You would actually shoot at someone with the possibility of killing any of the 3 on board? Dude...you need to chill a bit!

PEEJTRAV32 - Your kids ARE scared. As a therapist, please take my advice and try to talk to them. Try to relate to them, explain that you were afraid too, this will help them to open up and talk about it. (I know it's hard to say that, you never want the kids to know their dad isn't really fearless, but they also witnessed how you took action to protect them despite what you may have been feeling yourself - THAT IS COURAGE!) Give them lots of empathy and let them know you understand that it was probably really scary, but you will always be there to protect them as you already have, and that you are not disappointed that they won't go to the lake with you anymore. Just keep offering to take them, reassure them that you are safe (if you didn't already consider this, they may be scared for you when you go without them, that they may lose you) and that if they go to the lake with you, they can be in control; for example, if they want to stay close to shore that's ok, if they get afraid and want to leave as soon as you get there, that's ok too. Be patient, and don't get upset or push them. You may have to sacrifice going to some of the better fishing spots in order to get your kids back on the water again. Eventually they will regain their trust of the water and that is what is important. I'd hate for your kids to miss out on all the fun that can be had on the water because somebody else was so irresponsible!

Godspeed friend.
