The kid could have said that he hit the rocks or a stump. Kid? Sorry young adult! Or irresponsible pin head!

Does anyone know if this boat was stored somewhere the father might not see it for extended periods of time? And who took the boat to the shop? It was not taken to a boat shop as far as I know, it was parked in a garage. The Game Warden just happened to spot a boat matching my description on Lewisville lake & pulled them over to ask questions. The driver seemed nervous & that led the GW to contact the owner & eventually were we are now. My kids are fine. They have not been out on the lake since then. I have taken my Skeeter out to Tawakoni several times since then & they did not come. They say they are not scared, I'll just let them come out when they are ready.

"Honesty for honesty's sake is an altogether different principle. To be honest whether it proves profitable or not is the highest ethical conduct." I think the young people in the boat lack this basic moral conviction. I see it all the time when I am out and about. The magnitude of their actions just illustrated this fact in a greater degree. I am relieved that justice will judge them and pass on what they deserve. I am happy for you the turmoil and disruption in your life seems to have an end in sight. Peace alaways.

I am glad the kids are fine and they will get back out when they want and feel safe. You sound like you are a great father and doing all what needs to be done. Keep up the good work and protect them kids. Tight lines, fun, and safety to you and yours. John

The only thing he was "freakin' out about was thinking up the lie he had to tell Daddy about how he wrecked the boat. Bingo!

Its the MTV generation. A few years ago my nephew was going thru a green lite on his motorsickle when a young lady and her posse turned left in front of him. He t-boned the car, flew thru the air and upon impact broke nearly every bone in his body. As he lay on the pavement, the young lady and her posse went over and stole all his bling and wallet.

I'm not sure I'd lable it the MTV Generation. It was more to do with the parents than anything in my opinion.
The bottom line is, I couldn't be more proud of an organization (forum) such as this one that will stand up and actively help out those in need. We've witnessed it in this case and many more over the last several years of a deep caring for another's needs.
God bless you Peejtrav and your family, and everyone else on this forum that sent prayers and info. One good turn deserves another and I truely believe that carma will send it back.

Glad it all worked out.
IMO, I wish there was a way to ban them from lakes and/or watercraft for life. No fines, no community service...just ban them from all US lakes.
You see people get banned for life from Minute Maid park for streaking across the field. It may happen again, but not by them.
Community service may make them realize what they did was wrong, but it won't stop it from happening again. Ban them from the water, and although it will happen to someone else at some point and time, they wouldn't be the ones doing it.
We live in a country full of priviledges, and with a clean nose all who abide should be able to enjoy. For those who can't, it should be taken away. ESPECIALLY in instances such as this where an entire family COULD have been wiped out, leaving a helpless mother to trudge on with an empty heart and broken dreams.

The first thing that came to mind when they said they ran because they were scared, was that they may have been drinking if not drunk. A friend of mine was killed in a hit in run in Houston, and when they finally found the guy he said the same thing, he was scared thats why he ran, but it turned out he had left the bar the night he killed her.

There are guys and gals younger than these folks defending this nation and making ultimate sacrifices. I wouldn't call this group of perps kids. I would call their antics childish, but they are not kids.
When I first read this, I got pretty upset about it, mostly because of the little girl in the boat, but also because of the carelessness shown towards a fellow angler. I am glad to see this come full circle. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's pretty sweet.

Well I'm 36 but way back in high school for senior skip day we all borrowed our parents boat and went out to the lake all day for skiing and fishing etc..
I know exactly what would have happened if that had been me. The second a law enforcement officer showed up at my parents and asked and they thought it was me like the dad apparently thought it was his son the conversation would have been...
"Tell the officer what you know, did you do it etc...or I'll beat your [censored] so bad you'll wish you were in jail."
Short but effective. I guess parents don't do that anymore. There wouldn't have been any come back later and "I think he did it" but he didn't confess and [censored].
