Gosh Bib, I had no idea. I guess that's why no one is manufacturing EV's anymore. smile

Back several years ago, we drove from Dallas to Los Angeles straight through in around 20 hours. Give me your “solution” to doing this in an EV.

Gonna have to disagree. First off you can get a motor replaced for a lot less than $11K unless you're talking about a high end diesel or a high performance. This was a 2014 passenger car. You can get a rebuilt 4 cyl or 6 cyl motor installed for less than $5K. and that isn't the real point, the point is THERE ARE NO REPLCEMENT PARTS AT ANY COST. That's the point. If they bought her a 2014 Focus or Escort they would still be on the road.

It wasnt that long ago that every horse and buggy owner was laughing at Karl Benz's stupid invention and saying "that will never replace my horse". The first vehicles couldnt run long, werent fast, and had very limited parts supplies options. This is just the natural progression of things. I would not own an EV right now, it would never work for me, but it most definitely is A solution for some people and will likely continue to improve just like fuel engines have.

EV' are kinda ghey. But I guess if you like to drive to Starbucks for a foo foo latte mochachino and discuss climate change, then drive one.

Hopefully they improve the grid and infrastructure before EVs become more commonly owned.

THIS!!!

My favorite was watching the news the other night and they had tips for reducing load on the TX power grid...one of those tips "Hold off charging your electric cars during peak hours."

Hmmmmm let's see, I get home from work and have a trickle charger at my house, not one of those super chargers at the Tesla station. But I need to conserve and hold off. So I'll plug it in at Midnight, which appears to be the safe zone, then pray my car is charged enough for the next days commute.

Yeah, that's a hard pass for me!

I drove my BIL Prius the other day. on I-20. Not a fan. For some reason I started humming "somewhere over the rainbow"

One day they will develop them to be an option many people would choose. Maybe more than would not choose them. ’However, they are intent on forcing them on us. Real Americans don’t like to be forced. Liberals are ok with it. Make a product people want and they will buy it.
