Buy a freezer, and grab 5 bags at a time every week and you will be way ahead This^^^^^ depending on what you are using it for ,I have 6 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G8Q53T3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1and just fill with water and freeze. I have a 20 cu ft freezer and these make great block ice for the ice chest. Last all day and then some.

When I used to castnet shrimp I would go by my old A/C employer and load a 55 qt igloo to the top with shaved ice and and 48 qt about a quarter full. Their old machine made ice like crazy and never ran out. I'd do this 2-3 days in a row. They had 6-8 work trucks filling their water coolers every day too. Never saw anything like it.

Those Twice the Ice self serve stations are da bomb too.

I fill quart or half gallon milk jugs and freeze them, after I just throw them back in freezer and refreeze

They die a painful and expensive death here on the coast. Great idea, doesn't work. The worse your water is the shorter life and more problems they have. I'm fundamentally opposed to leasing equipment but when I owned a place in Midland I got over that real quick. I wanted no part of the service calls on that thing. And i had a giant softener and RO system. Still constantly broke down.

2 other things to consider especially if you plan on sticking an air cooled machine in your garage. Gotta drain the melt water somewhere constantly and their production rating is based on an optimal set of conditions when they spec out capacity. Air temp and water temp coming in absolutely impact production. With these temps my units which have roof top condensers probably perform at about 60 percent of rating in these conditions. That's with the head units in an air conditioned environment and they are 1 year old Cadillac level machines in the ice machine world.

Twice the Ice is near me and has 22lb bulk or 20lb in bag for 2.50 so I get it there if I need more than my freezers make.... I plan my route around those things every time I go fishing. They also have non-ethanol gas. I wouldn't put moonshine into my boat unless I had no other choice.

In a garage I’d want a water cooled unit- but none of this makes sense for a homeowner which you already told the OP👍
