I was going to grill some boloney for old time sake. Went to grab the thick cut, $6.49 / pound for OM Beef bolo??? That changed my mind real quick so I had to “settle” for bone-in ribeye @ $5.49 / pound.

You can make better, healthier and cheaper food at home. I'm sure glad I'm no longer a road warrior. I am glad that I am not a road warrior simply because of the headaches of traveling these days. Never had to worry about the price of food if vendors weren't paying for it the company was.

It seems the stuff that is getting hit really hard is chicken, certain types of fish, bread, processed stuff like french fries, onion rings etc. Dairy, especially cheese is out of control. Paper products like cups. Certain produce items. Produce bounces alot all the time so it's hard to say on that one right now. One of the surprising items that has been stable at least for us is shrimp. Very little movement on that one. All that is at wholesale market.

Bacon is also high as hell but that's been an ongoing issue for years, with China in control of it I think it's pretty manipulated and will be forever at this point

Its pretty bad when you can go to Texas Roadhouse for a smidgen more than McDonalds. Even the fried chicken places are ridiculous now! $10 for a 4 piece tender dinner combo! #FJB Last year 4 piece tenders at Chicken Express were $6.99 with a coupon. I got a coupon last week and the 4 piece meal is now $8.99. I have not been there since they raised the price but sure would like some of their okra.

I would add that all this shock and awe at restaurant prices is surprising. When you hear about inflation where do you people think it actually hits you? You dont buy from suppliers, you dont pay trucking companies, the restaurants, gas stations, retail stores, grocery stores are the cash registers for the entire system. When you hear the price of fertilizer has gone up, cattle feed, dead chickens, etc. That's gonna land somewhere and that is at the final cash register where you spend. It's not a hard concept. There's probably a good number of people here who didn't live thru the Carter years. This is worse IMO. Yes I agree, it's way worse. And we still have almost 3 years to go. I'ts going to be a rough ride!

The big difference between the Carter era and now is that Carter’s administration was led by fools with a total lack of understanding of domestic and foreign issues. The Biden administration is led by fools that make zero decisions and are completely controlled behind the scenes by forces that are determined to crash our economy and bring the average citizen to their knees so they can unfurl a magic bullet that will save us all. Unfortunately, that magic bullet will come at the price of destroying the Republic as we know it and remaking the United States into something more akin to the european eunuch nations under either the UN or China. Well said.

Booze seems to be holding steady so there is that. Yep, very little inflation on booze. Might have something to do with the fact that it is discretionary.

I know it is not the same but for years I have bought a small Brookshire's sugar free iced tea to drink on the way home from shopping. It was for many years .99 cents. Yesterday it was $1.29. Guess I'll quit doing that. It's not really the cost but the principal, a 30% increase in a small, iced tea? Sounds like they held prices in check for many years. Inflation or not at some point all prices go up especially over many years.
