In the hospital on oxygen 5 days with chronic bronchitis. Now I’ve got to go see a pulmonologist and may also have a sleep study. They said my heart went into A fib while asleep 4 times. Since I went 5 days without a beer or dip I said I’ll quit them both. Well Copenhagen is stronger than beer. I’ve had a couple of dips. Just posting to see what I can learn from other folks that’s been through some of my medical problems, If you have the stuff you want to put down, KEEP it OUT of SIGHT, like get rid of it...IF you see it, you'll want it. Been there.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get to feeling better. Nicotine gum helps.

32 lbs in 5 days!? What was your starting weight? That's insane.
Hope you continue to feel better.

I came in at the hospital at 251 lbs. Most I’d ever weighed in my life. As I retired in 2018 I was svelte 205 but had been 185-195 lbs since college. I’m 6’ tall. Even though I’m still a part time coach which means I do everything all the coaches do except teach I kept adding weight after retiring. So I’m still gonna try to lose 20lbs more. Heart, other organs and all vitals are good.

It started on a Friday night and I didn’t say anything to my wife about it till that Sunday. Admitted me and the next day put me to sleep and shocked my heart back in rhythm. Put me on a pill that’s suppose to keep it in rhythm. Now next month they want to go in and do a heart ablation. Already have CHF so what’s next??? Guess this is what happens when you don’t take care of yourself in your younger years.

As a life-long Catholic, a Christian, I can still offer an old-west prayer in multiple forms. "God" and "The Great Spirit" can be one in the same.

Well quitting the cope will certainly help with the heart issues. Tobacco is a vasoconstrictor, which narrows arteries, ultimately leading to increased BP and the heart needing to work harder. If you lost 32 lbs in 5 days, my guess is they had you on some sort of water pill (lasix, spirnolactone, etc) and they were trying to get fluid off your lungs and body. That much weight loss is usually not very healthy unless doctors are trying to achieve that weight to come off to allow your lungs to open back up and take stress off your heart.
Like many have stated, time to quit the tobacco, its a journey and not done easily. I too had the nasty habit for about 10 years of my life. I went to black buffalo for about a year, was able to quit tobacco no problem but I knew when I didn't have nicotine in my system after chewing as long as I did. From there, I transitioned to nicotine gum (4mg) and then went to 2mg and then would carry regular gum and nicotine gum in my pocket and alternate and slowly weaned off the nicotine gum all together. I still to this day have to chew gum a lot, and there is something about holding something in your lip that is hard to rid of so easily. It becomes a way of life unfortunately and it is super hard to break.
I will say this though, I feel better, my HR overall has come down a bit. I never was hospitalized for anything and still fairly young but it was just time for me to give it up.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get to feeling better real soon. Stay in close touch with your primary, A-fib is easily controlled with medicine usually and getting off the cope will help tremendously with these issues.

How do we know that if we repeat this it wont invite a scandalous murderous Native American type of poltergeist into our lives? You know like if we do not get the inflection, tone, even the cadence just right...well it can substantially alter the meaning of things in many languages. What was meant to be a prayer of health might end up being a pointed dis drop aimed at the spirits of Warriors who passed at the hands of the white man. I would issue a strong advisory on messing with Native spirits and what not.

Me too, except evidently something happened during the procedure and I tried to check out on them. They put a defib/pacemaker in and zero problems since. It was a kinda of feeling of security after I got that thing.
