The "chemical" is a 1% addition of seaweed to their diet, which reduces methane release by 60%.

The seaweed doesn't affect the taste of milk or meat and at production scale could be cheaper than the 1% of standard feed it would displace.

I have no idea how big of a deal cattle farts are for the climate, but the whole thing might not be as crazy as it sounds initially. You hate to have any more dang laws though.

My dog farts a lot worse than those cows. She can make the paint peel off the walls. And it just hovers in the room. The cows are outside not bothering anybody.

I'm no seaweed scientist. So this is actually legit curiosity.
If we're told that eating too much fish is bad because of Mercury levels in the ocean. Wouldn't feeding seaweed to cattle cause Mercury poisoning in the animals? Wouldn't that transfer into.the meat/milk? Yeah yeah small amounts. Blah blah blah. Small amounts could build up.to large amounts of Mercury.
