Roy and Glenn were amazing musicians. When I started I had no lessons so basically I'd take a record player and have to move the needle back to the parts I wanted to learn over and over again. I'd wear out needles and ruin the records, but that's how I learned to play. Today there are some kids, and I mean 10 years old and younger, who can literally smoke a lot of us older players...technically. But if ya got no soul in your fingers, you ain't playin!

I’ll tell ya someone whose guitar playing was under-rated IMO, and that’s Merle Haggard. I guess because his voice was so good, and his songwriting abilities were so strong his guitar playing skills didn’t get much mention…but he sure could play some tasty licks.
