All my spinning rigs are set up to reel with my left hand. All my baitcasters are set up for right. It really doesn't make sense and it's pretty amazing how our brains get conditioned to what feels right or wrong.

Power hand vs. Sensitivity hand. I also can't force my left, semi-non dominant, hand from making circles. I also couldn't separate my left hand when I tried to learn piano!

I cast mostly with my left and reel right, more accurate pitching with my right hand.

Not for me, I am left handed and a right hand reel works perfect for me. I set up spinning reels the same way, reel with my right hand.

Casting with my right hand I'm more accurate with better control, and switching over a baitcaster to left hand and reeling with my right isn't given a second thought!
It's just natural for me, and at my age, no need to switch now!

I’m left handed and have always used right handed reels. I don’t understand why right handers don’t use left. I suppose I’m glad they don’t because if so right handed reels would be hard to find. It’s gotten better but growing up finding stuff for lefties was always a hassle.

I'm left handed as well. I cast with my left and reel with my right be it either baitcaster or spinning reel. I've tried and tried again with left handed reels and it's just too awkward, hard to explain.

My Dad could cast, throw and bat with either hand. I did not inherit those skills. I broke my right arm and decided I was going to learn to cast left handed. That did not work. I can use a lefty reel to pitch but can't reel a rattletrap. Reeling in a 5 lbr left handed is quite humorous.

I learned to fish with a spinning reel and left handed cranking is all I know. My first and only experience with right hand crank was with a guide and it was the clumsiest day of fishing ever.

I cast with my right and reel with my left, as you suggest. From a pure efficiency standpoint it just makes sense. Less movement to accomplish the same task.

I can pitch a jig in a coffee cup from 40' away with my right hand. I tried a left handed bait caster and it was awesome right up to the point I got bit. Then I was all messed up. The fish came up and laughed at me. I took that reel back to Shane at SWP and stayed with what I do best.

I remember when I was in grade school, going to the store to look for a left hand base ball glove. They had 3 and one of them was a catchers mit.

Seems to me just learn to cast with left it would be a lot less expensive. Heck just put a spin cast reel on a rod change handle to the left side see if you can get the hang of reeling left handed. If you can’t go back to your right hand baitcaster
