Fixed, fold out, or automatic?

I'd consider a USA made fixed blade over anything but for the money, a Taiwan made Cold Steel 49LCKZ SRK with the Japanese SK-5 blade is a great knife. While its half a pound and 10.5" you can wear it or slide it in a pocket for walks. Its sharp and well made.

I have a 30 year old Gerber assault knife. Two sided fixed blade with a metal handle. Has a quick release sheath. You couldn't carry in a bar here so I used to tuck it away when in the rougher cowboy bars where I was hunting. Kept it sharp as a razor. Idea with the design was one thrust in and pull right then left and sever the heart in half. Never had to use it but then I always have a pistol within arms reach and never had to fire it either. At 73 I think I will give it all up and just sh1t my pants when attacked.

Carry a butter knife and walk a German Shepherd off the leash. No one will mess with you.

The only way I am using a knife for protection is if I run out of bullets.

How about a Rapala folding filet knife. Slim and has a long blade that can easily fit in your back pocket. You can slice but I prefer a light trigger and a full mag or two.

I haven’t read this entire thread but as a pacifist and extreme liberal democrat why don’t you just let the government take care of you?

I’m not reading all of this, but have throwing stars been mentioned yet? That’s the only real answer.

I’d prefer an automatic but I’ll look at the one you suggested

You’re pointing it in the wrong direction

Then you better get a $200 Benchmade , its hurts more to get jabbed with one than a cheapo.
