I have a 30 year old Gerber assault knife. Two sided fixed blade with a metal handle. Has a quick release sheath. You couldn't carry in a bar here so I used to tuck it away when in the rougher cowboy bars where I was hunting. Kept it sharp as a razor. Idea with the design was one thrust in and pull right then left and sever the heart in half. Never had to use it but then I always have a pistol within arms reach and never had to fire it either. At 73 I think I will give it all up and just sh1t my pants when attacked.

Carry a butter knife and walk a German Shepherd off the leash. No one will mess with you.

I walk regularly in an urban area of Dallas and I need a recommendation for an everyday knife that is LEGAL, easy to operate, small profile and not “gadgety.”
I’m a knife novice, so a specific brand and model I can google for purchase would be helpful.
As a pacifist and an extreme Liberal Democrat, I post this with no satisfaction. ROFLMAO!

The only way I am using a knife for protection is if I run out of bullets.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

How about a Rapala folding filet knife. Slim and has a long blade that can easily fit in your back pocket. You can slice but I prefer a light trigger and a full mag or two.

I haven’t read this entire thread but as a pacifist and extreme liberal democrat why don’t you just let the government take care of you?

The only way I am using a knife for protection is if I run out of bullets. and then can't run. I would rather be shot then stabed

I’m not reading all of this, but have throwing stars been mentioned yet? That’s the only real answer.

I carry a benchmade automatic though, if you want to look up a good knife Same, but the XD 40 rides above it on my waist. I am not grabbing a freaking knife when [censored] hits the fan lol.

I’d prefer an automatic but I’ll look at the one you suggested

Carry a can of wasp and hornet spray , the stuff that sprays 30 ft, that would have to be a bad azz way to back someone off Those things malfunction on me at the worst times. You’re pointing it in the wrong direction Then you better get a $200 Benchmade , its hurts more to get jabbed with one than a cheapo.
GOD is good!
