Might not be a bad idea for some retirees. Yes, I agree that it's disgusting how much Medicare premiums shot up compared to the increase in SSA.

Wonder if I ought to get a part-time job at this place?

Everything goes up in cost when libtards are in charge. The loons, as witnessed above accept this on bowed knees.

The government did in fact pay for everything, with your money.

You might remember that in 1966, when deductions were begun on your paycheck, the monthly premium for Medicare Part B was $3. In 2022 it will be $170.10.

I must confess, I wasn't around quite that early. But yes, the increases keep going up faster than SSA amounts do.

Same way that the Social Security & Medicare tax bases keep going up. In 1966, you only paid SSA taxes on the first $6,600 of wages, and the tax rate was close to 3%, and Medicare tax was around 0.35% - so you would've paid a max of around $225 in FICA tax back then.

Now the tax base is $147,000 next year, with 6.2% for Social Security and 1.45% for Medicare . . . so a wage-earner could pay over $11,250 in FICA taxes next year (don't forget, there's no wage cap on Medicare taxes). And that's not even taking into account the employer paid half of FICA!!

That brings up a good point. I paid into the Medicare system for 44 years until I retired. In addition, as a small business owner I also had to match every employee's contribution (including mine).

Typical Demorats, tax and spend. They say they are for the little guy, but that is who gets hurt the most. Big Pharma in the pockets of the politicians, but oh, everything is PAID FOR, the public doesn't have to pay for any COVID drugs, RIGHT!!! Who do they think the "Public" is? Back when Obama-care was being bandied about, I was at a hospital with my F-I-L and was talking to a gentleman in the hall discussing Obama-care. He said, "just wait, when we all turn 70, they'll just put us in a wheelchair, park us in a corner until we die". The "death-panel" will decide who gets meds and who doesn't. Those with deep pockets will get the meds, those of us without, tough chit. Kinda reminds me of the movie Charlton Heston made back in the '70s, called Solent Green. JMHO

The olds are step 1. Next, we get teachers salaries decreased by 25% unless they are willing to work the other 1/4 of the year.

This, plus all with EBT cards, WIC, welfare checks, free meals be required to participate, if nothing else but to get off the recliners and pick up trash etc off the roadways and waterways...

I would hit “dislike” on this post, but I have to take accountability for aging. It’s my own fault.
