Remember that 5.9% cost-of-living adjustment the feds were extolling a few months ago for Social Security folks? Well they just announced a 14.5% increase in the cost of Medicare Part B. Thank You, Joe Biden (hey libs, it's on his watch).

The 5.9% wasn't really enough to cove the COLA, and everybody knew it. Runaway inflation is eating away at everybody's checkbook.

One of the primary reasons for the increase is the $50,000+ annual cost of an alzheimer drug that Medicare has not even approved yet.

The Medicare increase takes a little less than 1/2 of my COLA increase.

This drug is a JOKE! The FDA gave approval for this drug when they shouldn’t have it has shown very little to no benefit in helping with Alzheimer’s and has to be given in the Dr’s office intravenously at a cost of something like $5000. Since it is showing very little benefits most Dr’s are not going to prescribe it however since the FDA gave it approval Medicare has to cover the cost. The drug was just denied approval in Europe. Just another screw up by our FDA.

One of these days, Medicare will realize it is cheaper to provide decent nursing home care than pay for these drugs.

Why wouldn't it increase? Covid and other medical issues with no control of pharmaceutical costs. Who has been unwilling to address the cost of drugs. Congress, many of which get major contributions from the pharmaceutical companies in return for pushing back.

Yes, Covid cost approx. $42,000 per taxpayer and was touted as "No charge for testing or hospital/medication costs", even though we all know that the taxpayer is charged for everything our government spends because the only way they get their funds is to take it from us. Why put that burden on the back of the old folks?
