Sounds like a plan to us.... But Mrs. Snakman sure is looking like she is going into withdrawals...

I remember listening to a motivational tape years ago where the speaker described an optimist as someone that would go fishing for Moby Dick in a row boat and take the tartar sauce with them.

It's one of the few parts of the tape that I actually remember though, probably due to the fishing reference.

"Fishing for Fun"

HUGSS is hosting a fishing trip for Gold Star Family kids sponsored by Marine Outlet

of Temple, Texas

July 28, 2007

(Inclement weather alternate date is August 4, 2007)

This is an event for children of fallen soldiers.

Event planner needs a few more volunteers with boats. Volunteers must be willing to accompany the child (who will also be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and be comfortable with showing the child how to fish.

This will be at BLORA beginning at 0730 until 1300. They will have a hot dog picnic lunch after. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Rick at 254-773-9931. He also needs live bait donations.

All righty I just spoke to Rick Smith up there at the Boat Dealers and got two spots in this event. It is a worthy cause and if it will get a few kids interested in fishing then all the better.

Lake update,
I just got back from a lake check. The water level is up to the bottom of the dumpster on the turn around at Frank's. This is one of the very few times recently I've seen the parking lot free of vehicles. I didn't waste a trip to Arrowhead, I can imagine what it's like there. I visit Frank's park at least once or twice a day.

I went to the marina and changed the chum bag I have suspended from my boss's barge and the marina staff were raising the cables that secure it. A bit more and the water will be in the parking lot. I didn't have a camera with me for pictures but I'm going back out this afternoon. I'll post a few when I get back to the office.

Just crossed Belton Dam and the gates are shut down all the way. We may be launching from the top of the hill at Frank's in a day or two.

Here are a few shots while out and about this afternoon.
There were actually two vehicles that launched this afternoon. According to internet reports I see that the lake is still rising, it's gonna get interesting pretty soon. Sorry about the links, didn't have time for re-sizing.

Here's a young man fishing from the ramp.

A couple of shots at Frank's turn around.
