Want to add a Rio grand Cichlid to my list. I have seen them south of lake Falcon, but assess there has changed over the years. Tried a few of the hill county Rivers, Nueces and Frio with no luck. What would be the top 3 choices to fish with a reliable chance to get a Rio?

No. 2 east nueces river south of the hill country
No. 3 frio river south of the hill country
Those would be my choices thumb

roflmao roflmao We have a mutual friend who is a double agent. He knows my secrets. He doesn't know I'm on to him though grin

bschat, they are in all the Central Texas water bodies. I'm not sure where you're located but Brushy creek has lots of them that are easy to access by wading. Living Waters has guides for Brushy Creek.

Agreed. There are Rios in pretty much every hill country stream from the San Gabriel south. There are tons of them in Brushy Creek so if you are in the Austin area that would be my No. 1 choice.

Everything said above. Some of these anglers are Rio catching machines.
