As to the recreational boaters, they will run your butt slap over. Idiots.

At the end of the day, give me Rayburn or Toledo.

Agreed, Conroe is a weekday lake for me!

I live 30 minutes from Lake Conroe. It's a shame but because of all of the rec boaters and lack of vegetation, I stay away from it. For those of you that want to fish it, go for it.

Closest lake to me and completely baffling to fish. She does have some giants but you have to earn them, with that said I’ll be out there tomorrow night fishing for my PB.

Conroe is nice Monday through Friday, never crowded at all though you might see a few wakeboard boats there’s usually not many. One things for sure, the guys that have Conroe figured out don’t have any problems consistently catching big fish.

The hydrilla years it was as good as anywhere. You could find big fish on beds into May. It had that many fish in it. Awesome frog fishing too. I haven't been back since the carp ate everything

I live 30 minutes from it and consider it my "home lake". That being said, it is probably the hardest lake I know to fish and it's like beginning on a new lake every time I fish it. You can pull up to a spot one day and yank 20 lbs out of it in 15 minutes and not catch a fish on that spot for the next 5 years. If I could give one piece of advice to someone, it would be to find yourself 10-20 spots and run those over and over and over again throughout the day. For me, Conroe has always been a "timing" thing with the off shore bite. You just have to be there when they are and pay attention to the conditions around you when you do find them to better clue you in on future success.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

Could not agree more. I still have a spot I caught my biggest bag on 4 years ago, that I still check each time I’m out, and have yet to duplicate that day or even come close.

I lived in Houston for several years and Conroe was a tricky one. One of the TTBC tournaments (maybe 2013?) Kelly Jordan was day one leader with over 20lbs. I chose to follow him on day 2 thinking I would learn about his strategy and spots. Long story short he zero'd. He hit the same 20+ spots he had fished on day 1 and didn't catch a keeper. Per GeoFisher's comments, on Conroe one day the fish are there and totally gone the next. On the other hand, they had weeknight tournaments during the summer and guys would consistently bring 30lb+ bags to the scales. Same names over and over. Those guys would rotate around 20-30 brushpiles the entire time.

In my adventures on Conroe, it only has a fairly large crowd for about 4 months. Then, it's a zoo. This is South Texas. People get on the water all of the time. Even Rec Boaters.

Caught a 9.87 back in 2004 on a certain spot in 12 foot of water. I swear, since then I have caught exactly 2 keepers (16+). Crazy lake.

Its not good, the Classic had many bags with 2 or 3 fish, the best of the best in the world, the winner didn't even have limit every day, world class fisherman.
