That is what I do. I have a pop up at the deer lease but camping involves fishing and the boat. In winter I try to get electric site for my heater, electric blanket, and coffee maker. A buddy asked me once if I still tent camp and I said heck yes.

For the summer, get a small window unit, cut the tent and sew a vent hole to accept the window unit. Velcro is your friend doing this.

We chose to shed our travel trailer and went with a class A. Yes, after dropping the trailer, you have a vehicle to drive. Definitely an advantage. We are planning on buying a small vehicle to tow behind our MH.

Our TT was 35’. My truck is an F350 SRW crew cab with an 8’ bed. Total length was pushing 60’, maybe more. It was a chore to drive, park, hook up, unhook, back up, setup, gas up, etc. I was looking for something easier. A 31’ MH is definitely a lot easier than the TT rig.

Everyone needs to decide what works best for them. For us, it’s a MH.

We enjoy the travel and camping. Sleeping in the same bed every night. Being able to cook our own meals. With this new rig, the wife and I are planning on expanding our travel and our adventures.

My wife and I want to do this in the future.

Being 6' 7" really stifles some of the ones that would work for us. cheers

We actually did this for several years before we went to a camper, I wish we would have just stayed with it-

Maybe RV's are the cause of so many unhappy people.

TOP RV STATISTICS:
Approximately 1 million Americans live in recreational vehicles full-time.

The hashtag #vanlife has been used around 6 million times on Instagram.

RV ownership has grown from 7.9 million households in 2005 to over 9 million today.

Over 11% of US households own a recreational vehicle.

More than 50% of RVers take their pets away with them.

Over 40 million Americans regularly go RVing, with over 25 million RVing a year.

The average RV owner is male and 38-55, however, there is a rise of solo female RVers.

A family of 4 can save between 21-64% in travel costs via over traditional vacations.

The industry contributed over $114 billion to the US economy in 2018.

10% of 35-year old’s use a recreational vehicle once a year.

They can cost anywhere between $6000 - $500,000.

RVers spend between 3 – 4 weeks in their recreational vehicle a year.

Millennials have pushed this industry to record highs in recent years.

38% of the 40 million people who own a recreational vehicle are Millennials.

Approximately 25% of campers are under the age of 18 in the US.

There are over 16,000 campgrounds and parking facilities to support public and private RV camping.

We just sold a 2019 travel trailer I made 3 k profit. We bought new at the RV show sold it and bought a 5th wheel.

We love to just go and stay for a week. Working from home is a big plus.

In the event you buy one I will make you a killer deal on a equalizer hitch.

This. Every time you go something will be broken.

We have been camping for years. Started out tent camping then moved up to a pop up. We are now on our 3rd camper. Does stuff break of course it does but with preventative maintenance campers can last years.
We have a bumper pull but I will be retiring and moving up to a fifth wheel. My kids grew up camping and now they own their own camper. We have made lots of memories camping and plan on making lots more.

We’ve had a travel trailer for years and now have a 35’ 5th wheel trailer. I pull it and wife tows my Champion bass boat and we travel quite a bit camping and fishing. We stay weeks at a time near family so we can take them fishing. I’ve had to learn how to repair things on the 5th wheel but I like saving money and doing things myself. If you end up with a shorter 5th wheel you can double tow the boat.

not for everyone.. some it last forever.. some, no after first trip.. ya don't know till ya do it.. i pulled 25' bumper pull for years all over tha country in my work so got tha "experience" of most all pros and cons.. wife retired a coupla years after me so leased tha house and away we went.. 2 weeks in had ta have a "bigger" one (real big!!!) .. 5th wheel all tha bells n whistles....tha smaller bumper pull got real close real quick.. we stayed on tha road for several years then decided we had enough..... don't even have a thought 'bout 'em anymore..........but we gave it a shot.

so its all on what ya happy with... but tha try it before ya by it sounds like good advice... investigate ALL expenses for it "settin'" idle in ya driveway or wherever!

Not to highjack your post but I posted this in another post and received 0 replies.

Thor Axis, anyone on here own one of these RV's? They call it a RUV. One I'm looking at is a 20 model with only 4k miles. Has a Ford 6.8 gasser. A little worried about the motor. Is it strong enough for long-term use? Plus it only has one A/C unit. Would have to upgrade that for Texas summers. This type of class A has a HUGEEE curved front window. Looks like great visibility but also easy for rock chips, cracking.

Opinions?

I’d get a Ford E350 cargo van, put a bed in there, and call it done.

Thor has a pretty bad reputation on the inside calling apart, we rented a new one and decided on a 5 th wheel.
