I mounted a motor guide tour pro on my boat. It is very hard to latch in place. When it latches in, it takes a screw driver to release it. The handle won't release it. The motor is not binding with the front of boat
.

Push down on the head of the TM while pulling the release handle/rope. Mine was the same way. After a year or two of use the release latch will wear/loosen enough that pushing down on the head will no longer be needed.

That may have happened because the trolling motor was not mounted flat and the frame is slightly torqued.
Release the tension on a couple of the screws and see if it is still tough to latch.

I grab the release rope and use my foot to apply just a little down pressure on the motor. The latch pops loose very easy then. It has seamed to get better as I have used it.

It turned out there are a couple of plastic bushimgs in the top part of the motor. One of the was sticking and not turned properly. We adjusted it and it works correctly now. Now I'm having some problems withe the remote. When trying to turn right. It starts to jerk and will go back left. Not as bad with the foot control
