Stretching like others have mentioned for hams and glutes. One stretch in particular for me.

Lay on your back on the floor or mattress. Raise one leg and cross it over the other trying to make a 90 degree angle at your waist with your legs. Do the same with the other leg. Usually one side is worse than the other.

As with all stretches, hold for minimum of 30 seconds before releasing to go to another stretch. This is important.

Chirporactor....gotta get the back in alignment, first. Then, when pain has subsided, get on a rigorous stretching routine.

Something else to consider. I have been having some knee pains and foot pain at the ball of my foot. Didn’t give it much thought. Knee surgery about 25 year ago. Just thought it may be arthritis. Doc did a blood test and my uric acid was way high 8.9. Doc gave me a steroid shot and I feel so much better. No knee or foot pain. I would have never believed that I had gout which can attack anywhere in your body. Doc also gave me a prescription for Colchicine 0.6 mg to take as needed. Red meat is the demon in my case. Good luck

I foam roller it. Lay on back put foam roller under you on the spot. Raise your legs so as to get as much pressure on the spot once you find it. Work it around. Hurts like heck but it works.

Thanks everyone. It got a lot worse yesterday afternoon after I posted this.. Now it pretty much 90% of the time no matter what I'm doing.
Going to try to ice/heat and throw in a good stretch routine to see if those start helping before I look up a Chiropractor.

Some stretches really pull on it and make it uncomfortable. Is this something you want to power through or should I lay off a bit when I feel any extra pain?
I've only stretched through sore muscles so I don't want to make it even worse by powering though it

the pain your having occurs when one of your vertebrae ( L4 or L5 ) is sliding forward and pinching your nerve . Depending on how you injured it , you might even have caused some damage to the disc that is supposed to "buffer" between the vertebrae . In some cases , you can even rupture that disc and then it starts to leak and possibly become uneven . If you think your disc is damaged , you should proceed with extreme caution .

You need to lay off stretching until the inflammation goes away. Advil, ice, and rest is the best. They say 20 min on and 20min off w/ ice. I do as cold as I can stand it and as long as I can stand it with ice, then give it time to warm back up, and then do it again repeated. Take 800mg of Advil every four hours like clockwork until the pain has subsided.

Then stretch like a big dog!

Probably related to your Piroformis and hip ligaments. Maybe this will help.

Good luck and stop the stretching till the inflammation settles down.

Dose up good on advil,
I used CBD cream, but advil will work.
Lay on stomach on the floor.
Have old lady rub your back, you need to get the muscles completely relaxed as 1 muscle somewhere is pulling your spine outta wack...
After completely relaxed, see if you can pop your back. If it gets relaxed enough, you should notice it pops and crackles for a day or so. This is actually good natural re alignment .
The inversion table usually helps me not get to where you are. At first sign of back pain I get the table out. I use it about 3 times a year.

Woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun....

As mentioned above it could have something to do with your disks. I had no problems until I had a discoscopy and they injected fluid into two disks in my lower back then it got real bad. I started walking every night until I got up to 2 miles a day, that helped some. But what helped most was being on my feet as long as possible. It went from my back to my knee. From my knee to my ankle and then went away completely after a few months.

Then repeat all three stretches.

It helps if you have someone help push your knee into your chest. Have them press on your hamstring to avoid putting extra pressure on your knees. Push in right up to the point it is painful, then back off until it no longer hurts.

Thanks. Just gave this one a try and am now looking for some others. I've finally decided it's not going away on it's own so it's time to try a few things

Put hands behind knees and raise them as close to your chest as possible .

Lean your legs to one side as far as you can , then lean to the opposite side .

Repeat .

Do this slowly and don't try to force it .

What Siberman said.
