Hey Everyone, This is normally the time of year I focus on pre-spawn yellow perch. For me, it's been a weird year for them. I would love to hear if others have had luck, but for me, it's been sporadic at best. Thanks for watching my videos.

I hear they're quite rare though. Would be cooler if we had more as they're neat fish but it's not cold enough! Thanks for sharing the video

Used to fish up in Ontario. One of the lakes we fished, had tons of yellow perch. When you ran into a school of them, you could catch them by the hundreds. We always kept enough for small fish fry. Tasty!

The Charles River around Millis, Massachusetts has them. My kids and I would turn over logs, dig up a few worms, here come the yellow perch. Never ate any.

Catch a ton of them in Eagle Nest Lake, Northern NM. Fun fish to catch and wonderful taste to eat!

Everyone talks about how good walleye are to eat. But most of the people I know who live up north say yellow perch are better than walleye.
Retirement best job ever.

Very similar body structure, except of course perch are smaller. All are easy to fillet and great tasting. I grew up in Minnesota and still spend summers there.

My dad used to take me fishing for them when I lived in NJ back in the 60's. They are excellent to eat and super easy to catch.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

While fishing Lake Bemidji MN we came across a school of yellow perch, quickly ran out of bait and my Dad started catching them on a cigarette filter. Fun to catch and very good eating.

Saugeye (walleye/sauger) do well in OK, and in the TX panhandle. You would think yellow perch would as well, but I've never heard of one being caught in OK.

Never caught a yellow perch here but caught plenty of perch. Here in Texas, what are called perch are usually sunfish, (called bream or brim here) Perch are a different species.

I grew up a bike ride away from Lake Michigan. Fished for jumbo Yellow Perch most days spring through fall. My favorite fresh water eating fish. We used to use thawed frozen shrimp as bait (back then it was very cheap). I miss Yellow Perch (also Walleye) here in Texas.

Here's a video of one of my biggest of the year. Wow - that is a really nice one! We have them here too (Lake Eufaula (Walter George Res.) but they are very small. We used to have them right behind the cabin until Hurricane Michael dumped a ton of mud in our creek. They prefer sand/rock mix. Congrats on that fish!
