My dad used to take me fishing for them when I lived in NJ back in the 60's. They are excellent to eat and super easy to catch.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

While fishing Lake Bemidji MN we came across a school of yellow perch, quickly ran out of bait and my Dad started catching them on a cigarette filter. Fun to catch and very good eating.

I grew up in Minnesota and still spend summers there.

Saugeye (walleye/sauger) do well in OK, and in the TX panhandle. You would think yellow perch would as well, but I've never heard of one being caught in OK.

Here in Texas, what are called perch are usually sunfish, (called bream or brim here) Perch are a different species.

I grew up a bike ride away from Lake Michigan. Fished for jumbo Yellow Perch most days spring through fall. My favorite fresh water eating fish. We used to use thawed frozen shrimp as bait (back then it was very cheap). I miss Yellow Perch (also Walleye) here in Texas.

Wow - that is a really nice one! We have them here too (Lake Eufaula (Walter George Res.) but they are very small. We used to have them right behind the cabin until Hurricane Michael dumped a ton of mud in our creek. They prefer sand/rock mix. Congrats on that fish!
