I have no idea what is causing it but something is setting off the alarms at work. I can literally see the front office doors from my house. I get $100 every time I have to go reset them and I'm up $300 today so far, got $200 for Friday.

Green energy is an easy target, but I suspect it had little to do with what we've seen. Probably more likely that we had way too little generating capacity for this kind of historic event. Having enough capacity for this situation would require that we pay every month for infrastructure that would only be needed every few years at best. Most folks probably wouldn't vote to pay for that.

The vast majority didn't see the long-term outage that you experienced. Sorry you had to go through that.

I can respect your suspicions, but numerous folks in ERCOT have said the main problem is Wind Turbine icing and solar panel snow covered. I didn't just make up the "green" targets, heard this from leaders in the power industry in Texas. Granted this outage is an emergency situation but I would call it irresponsible planning on ERCOT and ONCORS part, not an Act of God. Maybe some good solutions will come of this for the next possible emergency.

If the money spent on these wind turbines had been spent on a Natural gas fired plant, I suppose they would be contributing power to the grid. I’m staring at over 70 wind turbines as I type this, and not a one of them are turning.

The mosquito population in Alaska during warm weather is beyond outrageous.

Canada, Minnesota and Wisconsin also. It will be good for peaches. I was worried we would not get enough chilling hours. Pool is still running which is good. Next year I drain below skimmer and winterjze.

The only positive I can think of is;

Hopefully some folks finally learned, you can't depend on anything but God, family and true friends when the going gets really tough.

Federal, State, local Gov't,,, nope.
Utilities, all,,, nope.
Supply chain ie stores, gas stations, even emergency suppliers,,, nope.

God, family, true friends, yes.

Prayers up for all those currently in survival mode.

If propane doesn't show I will have nothing good to say about any of this. One tank on empty and other less than 15% which won't make till thur.

Couldn't agree more. ERCOT is responsible for capacity planning and they failed. They know that windmills ice up and solar panels get covered with snow. This is their industry, how could they not know that? So now that they've dropped the ball, why would we accept excuses like that.
