Like all kinds, hot sauce the best. Like smoked oysters and pickled herring, but too much salt for my cardiologist. Have to sneak a can in every now and then.

Smoked herring is the bomb on a cracker with sharp cheddar and a slice of pickled jalapeno. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/01/full-30685-80836-smoked_fish_dip_6.jpg)

Life is too short to spend time making stink fish taste better. Agreed. Sardines are bait for the fish I like to eat. This^ I couldn’t get past the little rib bones crunching in my mouth.

Damn... the Rolls of tiny fish in a can. I gotta try some! Ordering now.
Grazie Fratello Prego There’s a very popular documentary on how these sardines are made I ordered the 10 pack for $55. I have to think if I kind of like the 1$ tins these must be over the moon. Really liked watching the care they put into selecting and packing the fish, all by hand! Did not think anything was done the old way anymore.

Smoked herring is the bomb on a cracker with sharp cheddar and a slice of pickled jalapeno. I love these. It's been way too long since I've had any.

Love sardines. I get the boneless, skinless in a can. Several cans a week.

WAIT! WAIT! I GOT THIS ONE!! Coming out of longtimelurkerdom to answer this... It's a fish question I am qualified to answer FINALLY. King Oscar Finest Norwegian Brisling Sardines in Olive Oil is what you want. Not kidding. Two fiddy a can or so. I eat them straight out of the can or on a saltine. A little black pepper or Tabasco but it's not really necessary. Those cheaper brands like Chicken of the Sea use soy bean oil which tastes about like used racing oil.

The smaller the sardine, the better they are. King Oscar was my go to for years. I recently discovered Polar sardines packed in a jar, they are lightly smoked and packed in oil. HEB carries them. King Oscar packed with cracked black pepper are a close runner up though.

Used to love the Smoked Kippers.
Until I came back from a Halibut fishing trip in Kodiak, where we used herring for bait. Now just can't get past the smell, and it's stuck in my Gortex coat for life.
I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us. Hopper

I have those very ones in my collection! Have not tried it yet. But will give a full review tomorrow. It has the red packaging with the bearded dude.
