The smell of Levi Garrett chewing tobacco, coffee, honey and butter. That was my grand parents house. Grandma made butter and had bee hives she sold honey from. Grandpa chewed tobacco and drank coffee all day. Lots of good memories with the cousins and family at their house growing up.

I think C-130s use JP8, but either way.......when you first jump out the door......and get that whiff of exhaust.......it's like heaven.

When I smell "vanilla," especially vanilla lotion, it instantly reminds me of Carla, a woman I had a relationship with back in '99.
Oh the fun we had, best legs ever! Her legs were as good as or better than leg model's legs!
Addendum: She became a nut, moved to Atlanta, remarried and got divorced again, went back to college in her late 30s, and "changed"! I wrote an entire topic about her a couple years ago. Many of you will remember it!

Cotton Defoliant We toured it in the 60s while in elementary school. The smell was awesome.

I remeber the smell of dead skunks along the highways....we didn't have A/C and closed windows back then so it seemed to take forever to get the smell out of the car after you passed one...

The smell of burning hair reminds me of the time my Dad asked me to start a fire in the coal furnace in the basement. I was 8 years old. I thought spraying a bunch of some very flammable solvent into the furnace chamber to help start the fire was a great idea until I lit the match about a foot away. The blast made me swallow fire for a brief moment. Eyebrows gone instantaneously. Scared the beejeepers out of me. I didn't realize it singed my eyebrows completely off until my Dad looked at me, and asked "Bobby, where did your eyebrows go"?

Its odd, but the smell of a freshly shot shotgun shell. Takes me back to my childhood days, first time i picked up a shotgun. We used to pick them and smell them right after shooting it.

Green Palmolive dish soap is what my Nanny always used and I can always see her kitchen as soon as I smell that soap.

Fresh Baked Bread in my Grandma's Kitchen, she made about 5 loaves a Day and everyone in the family would stop by for one or two loaves. Skunk, lived in the country, skunks were always around, the smell reminds me of home. The smell of the "honey wagon" for you city folks this was a device used to spread cow $hit on the fields in the fall. The smell of apples in the orchard in the fall or better yet, the same smell with some horse sweat while riding a horse through the apple orchards. They say that smell is more tied to memory than any other sense.
