Don't let the ole farts get to you. Your Willie still watches you shave theirs watches them shine their shoes. 1 rod & reel is better than no rod in reel. Have fun on your trip .

sure it can be used. I had a neighbor out at the lake that used his bass gear for crappie all the time. He caught plenty of fish. Since you're using a jig and bobber the rod is far less important since you don't need to feel the bite. like said above, you just need to make sure you have enough weight for casting. either use a weighted bobber or add some split shot.

I new to this but I have a couple of questions for you . Will you be fishing from the bank or out of a boat? Do you prefer a spinning reel or bait casting? Where are you located?
