anyone know are the fish in the retention run off ponds good to eat? i read they are full of chemicals from grass/weed control run off.

Every piece of garbage and every soluble and non-soluble chemical that flowing water can carry is deposited into retention ponds. Non-solubles that are denser than the water will settle to the bottom and remain there until such time that they decay or the pond is dredged. Some ponds are never dredged. You have no way of knowing when and if a toxic chemical spill occurs within the collection area of the retention pond.

Every lake in the US is a retention pond just on a larger scale. I don't see an issue with it.
