Every piece of garbage and every soluble and non-soluble chemical that flowing water can carry is deposited into retention ponds. Non-solubles that are denser than the water will settle to the bottom and remain there until such time that they decay or the pond is dredged. Some ponds are never dredged. You have no way of knowing when and if a toxic chemical spill occurs within the collection area of the retention pond.

Go ahead and eat a few. If you find yourself no longer needing a light for night fishing. Stop immediately.

I wouldn’t do it. Too many places you can fish without the risks.

Not an issue for me. Fish are filters. Humans are filters.

Every lake in the US is a retention pond just on a larger scale. I don't see an issue with it.
