I've got the backpack Yeti backflip 24 soft cooler. Pricey, but I got it 40% off. It's my go to cooler. Great capacity, easy to carry because it's a backpack, fits great in the boat. I took it to Boundary waters last year. I pre-cooled the cooler and most of the items in it were frozen. It stayed cold for 4-5 days which is incredible for a soft sided cooler.

Check this out, you can keep fudge bars in it while jeeping all over in moab in 100 degree weather, battery consumption is low, I leave mine on for a week long trip and dont plug into a charger at night etc.
More money than a yeti, but no ice ever needed.

I love this thing.

If you put cold drinks in a pre-cooled cooler and then add ice, the ice will last significantly longer.

Pre-cool your drinks and cooler and limit how often you open them and they will keep ice significantly longer.

This is exactly why I had a walk in freezer built at my house to store my coolers. This $40K investment has saved me at least $6 in ice this year.

roflmao Just what I was thinking!!!

It's a cult, akin to Oxygenics shower heads with RVers and BGEs with backyard dog & burger grillers.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Same here. Probably wouldn't spend the money on another one though. Pre-cooling is key, otherwise its no different than an igloo.

All of these name brands will hold ice until you open them, but you can't get your beer out until you do!!!

Now to the OP....... As someone already said, I think any roto molded cooler is going to out perform the conventional plastic ones. Back when Burton Marine was around they were selling the big Engel coolers for $100 so I grabbed one and it will keep ice for a week when we take it camping. None of my regular coolers come close to that.

It doesn’t say Yeti on it but I saved a few hundred and I’m CHEAP.

Bought a Lifetime from Wal Mart last week. 55 qt for $97. So far so good. It will be a truck cooler replacing an Igloo Marine.

Cheap? Is that so you can afford to fuel that 300HP Merc? roflmao
I noticed Engel has a cooler that's almost 300 quarts (to hold your beer for a weeklong trip) - the EMPTY cooler weighs in at 93 pounds!

Has the seal come loose on yours yet? Mine has, it's easy to put back. The handle is a bear for my GF to deal with, the latches are a struggle for her too, but it dang sure keeps ice, I give it a 3 out of 5 sno cones.

best cooler I have is one I stole off a flatbed at a bar in Terrell 30 years ago. It was full of silver bullets. I left them on the truck with his blue healer.

Yep. I've got a 75 quart Bison though that is Yeti quality, and the latches are cantilever style, easy to open with one hand, that one's for the long trip ice storage. The Yeti soft side is my go to for short Shell Beach trips, carry down all the cold goods, then it's in the boat the rest of the trip. All reds too big to go in the livewell go in the Yeti, and other fish if the livewell's full (that's a green trout in there too) That thing is nice in a bass boat, fits in places a hard cooler can't. My 50 quart Yeti pulls the rest of the weight, usually comes back with crabs or crawfish, makes a great purge box for 'em too.

Mo, Shell Beach is calling for ya!

Hey W,

It’s the Bonanza fuel that stings. frown

Even the “80” quart, which is somehow 74 (?) is so stinking heavy when it’s empty that you don’t want to do too much with it by yourself. I can’t imagine a 300.

the 300 is a coffin. Just put a bag of ice in with your loved one and they will keep for at least a week.
