Actually in the tests I've seen most of the other roto molded coolers out perform the Yeti. Not sure about that particular brand.

Any cooler will keep ice longer if you properly prepare them for use. If your cooler (regardless of brand) is stored in the garage in the Texas summer heat and you pour ice in it, the ice is going to melt cooling the cooler. Same concept with hot drinks. If you put cold drinks in a pre-cooled cooler and then add ice, the ice will last significantly longer.
Pre-cool your drinks and cooler and limit how often you open them and they will keep ice significantly longer.

I don't think I've seen Yeti win any of the stupid tests they do on youtube.
Also, did you miss the $50 cooler thread? They are still on sale in-store at Leslie's Pool supply.

Yetis are quality overpriced coolers; too heavy to be practical for anything other than a week long camping trip I have one that sits in the garage and choose other coolers 99% of the time Other, lighter rotomolded and regular coolers are much easier to use for 1-3 day trips/events

If you don't need ice for days , roto tooled ice chests are a waste of cash.
I'll wager most 99% of folks use a ice chest for a day at most , pour the ice out on the lawn when done.
I have two yeti's I received as door prizes , They are nice when taking a 3 day trip to Shell Beach , but my igloo's work just fine for everything else I do.
your mileage may vary.

I was simply suggesting the most efficient way to retain ice in a cooler. Buy a bag of ice a day or two before you leave to pre-cool your cooler, cool your drinks off prior to putting them in. A walk in freezer isn't necessary for that.

I'm kind of disappointing with one of my Yeti's. Only 8 years old and the YETI emblem on the front is starting to peel. Completely unacceptable.

Totally worth it if you need ice for a few days. Not very practical for a picnic. However, Yeti has began to position themselves away from coolers with the introduction of their drinkware. Yeti does have a cult following and some see it as a status symbol, it's like you wife in Lululemon yoga pants when she has never done yoga. Side Note: I hear the Yeti chair for $300.00 is extremely comfortable and durable for you big guys.
