I went to a buddy's house bustin his chops the whole time about "not being manly" and "easy bake meat oven" ect. Until I tasted the BBQ. I gave away my cheap oklahoma joes and my expensive offset vertical smoker (which took up half of my patio) to a good friend and bought a rec tec, I used to think babysitting a smoker was a manly thing . Now I think of all the time I wasted (And beer I drank) Now i can put a brisket on in the morning, go fishing all day pull the brisket, rest it and clean up and i am ready to eat.

I heard "you can't get a bark or a smoke ring on a brisket with one of those" well You can.

I am sold. Call me a sissy if you want, I made good BBQ before and I still do but with out all the work. [Linked Image]

That picture may be the best Rec Tec advertisement I’ve seen. Great looking brisket!

Nothing like being on the lake and pulling up the app to see how the brisket is doing.

I have to admit I have both the 590 and the 700. I Purchased the 700 first to have at the house to replace my stick burner. I’ve been smoking for several years now and I love the stick burner, but you often get dirty smoke and you have to babysit it constantly. I know the diehard Stick burner smokers say that’s part of smoking, but if I can go do other things I would rather. I liked it so much I Purchased the five money do you have in our RV at the lake. I looked at the 340 and it was just too small for me. I have a friend that has it and you can get to racks of ribs or a single brisket. I often cook more than that. I think I like the 700 a little better, I like the layout of how the smokestack is on the end like a traditional smoker. The 590 has been great as well. You will not be disappointed in it. I honestly would not upgrade my 590 to 700 because of the size. Their customer service is unbelievable. I’ve had to deal with him one time and we could not duplicate the problem, so he gave me his cell phone number to call the next time I have an issue. Incredible customer service. You will not be disappointed switching to a pellet smoker.

I would just keep on doing what you are doing. Those that complain about pellet smokers either can't use it right or just want something to gripe at. they don't know what they don't know.

That brisket looks amazing!!!!!

I totally agree. The RecTec’s are WiFi capable. As long as I have a cell signal, I can go out on the lake, run to the hardware Store, do whatever and monitor the temperature of my brisket. When I see you it’s getting close to where I want to wrap it, I head back and take care of business, then head out again. I love it.

We were watching tv Saturday. I grabbed my phone and fired up my 590. It's just out of eyesight on the back porch. It started smoking pretty good. Wife thought the house was on fire. She thought I was texting my peeps when I was actually cranking up the RT to max temp. Never had to get off the couch.

The pellet grills don’t produce as strong of a smoke flavor as a traditional stick burner or charcoal/wood chunks smoker. That’s just the way it is. They still produce a good smoke flavor, just not as heavy. They also don’t produce much smoke when cooking at higher temps such as 275/300 and up. The smoke tubes help supplement smoke and smolder even when the cook chamber is at higher temps.

May well just cover your brisket in liquid smoke while its in your easy bake oven...

An Astros fan and he is talking indirectly about pellet grillers cheating!! That's rich.

John, would a turkey fit on the 340?

I had the 340 and moved up to the 590 because of the size. You can fit a few pork butts on there, but there was so little overhead clearance that it was very difficult just to spray them with apple cider vinegar. A big consideration for me was having the ability to smoke a turkey and I didn't see it as being anything easily doable on the 340.
