I find my Sand Bass schools just like the Striper Schools in the other post. I like to set up 20-30 feet away and cast to them. When you're sitting still, the school looks like a long cloud on side scan. You will actually see if Hybrid move through as well. Some people have a hard time throwing the # 2's and even the 4's. Here is my little secret deadly weapon. Its the Booyah Boo Rig Alpine. Its only a 1/4 oz. and smaller than your hand. They cast a mile and sink fast. Helps that Mepps track low. And you're still a single hook which is what I prefer. The Hybrid and Striper will jump on it too, but its a killer paired with a Mepps on Sand Bass. And you can buy 10 of these for only $5 at overstockbait.com. This is also good for avoiding the dreaded "You're in my trolling lane" encounters. You can sit out of the way and catch 5 or 6 before they get turned around...lol. It's Friday...y'all catch em up and have a good weekend! https://www.overstockbait.com/produ...k7q_m6gIVzsDACh2cpAaWEAQYAiABEgIKyfD_BwE![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-95946-60712-20200724_121232.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-95946-60713-20200724_121734.jpg)

I’m a Mepps disciple but do not enjoy using the #2 in high winds. I have found an Acme Kastmaster can work with a similar presentation yet has a little more weight with a similar profile. Found 30 today using this technique by what I believe is called the rock pile.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I bought a couple of Mepps #2 Spinners at Academy today and will give the technique a try and report back. I also have some Acme Kastmaster spoons I’ll try as well.
I’m getting my new fish finder dialed in too. I hope to get white bass fishing down soon.
Dennis, have you had to move shallow and resort to #2 yet ? The #4 in 25 fow seems to still be working well for me on CC.
Ron, they are still biting #4's and on deeper strictures, but it could change any day.

Half ounce cotton Cordell silver slab slow rolled off bottom works well. Its the small profile moved horizontally that entices a strike. Good intel DC.

I attempted to use the Mepps technique tonight with the #2 plain silver spinner and split shot but the wind made it tough. No luck. I'll keep trying.

Headed to cedar creek in a couple of weeks. Are there any bait shops in gun barrel city?
Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state. But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

Ordered one of the Booyah Boo Alpine Rigs to try. Seems like it could be deadly on white bass with a Mepps spinner or spoon!

Anyone tried using a one ounce egg sinker, barrel swivel, two foot tag line attached to pet spoon ? Can be used exactly like the Mepps technique and it works. May need to experiment with weight size for personal preference .
