I purchased a new Express back in 2001 from Butch. He was a great guy. I live in Waco, TX and would make the long drive to Mesquite to get my boat and motor serviced because I completely trusted him and wanted it done right. He will be missed.

I am Butch’s daughter. My Dad and his brother Rickey started West Boats I believe off the top of my head in 1987. My Dad Continued the business after Rickey passed. This was a family owned business - Beth, my Dads wife at the time did work there to help during the marriage. She no longer affiliated with West Boats when she decided to end the marriage. At that time my Dad was had been diagnosed with cancer. He kept the business open a short time but his Illness was to much. The company was closed by the family and building sold. My dad has a ten year battle with cancer. Several cancers he battled and won. Dad was a marine and was exposed to agent orange. He was a hell of a fighter. He lost his battle yesterday. 07/19/2020. I came across this searching my Dads name. I wanted to make sure the customers and friends who loved him knew what happened. Once Dad closed the shop he did distance himself from friends because it was how he felt he could deal with his illness. Your prayers are appreciated. Thank you all for your kind words above. I love hearing stories about him. He was and will always be my hero. Charlotte West I think I met both in 1985 at Garrison s boats on 2nd bought a 70 evinrude brand new for a 85 kingfisher. They rigged I was happy loved the old man he was a hoot. Then a coworker of mine got a part time gig at Fred Pyse marine in garland don’t remember how his name was spelled. My friends name m.massey Hell of a good fisherman and just lost touch life I guess. But during that he bought a 1992 alumeweld predecessor to express before name change x 18 garland rigged boat with 150 itruder Fred pyse that is boat came from west boats duel axle trailer boat was rigged with evinrude hand controller what a beast. That boat was fabulous loved fishing together. That’s how I came to know at who they were . I’m sad for both but we all go there someday no one escapes.. JD Mike if you happen to read this message me I will respond. Just like to hear how your doing old friend.

Absolutely. Rockwall marine is awesome. I've had my boat serviced there for years.
