Just seen the Jacob wheeler series rods and they seem to be pretty nice rods. Have any of y’all fished with one? Any opinions on them? Just thinking about trying some new rods out

MB.. I have the 7'2" MH spinning rod. I have used it for jigging a spoon for white bass and also shakey head fishing. I like it a lot so far.

If they're Duckett rods, they're garbage.

Why are Duckett rods garbage? Just curious as to what your experience was with them.

I've owned 11 of them and 8 have broken somewhere on rod. I will say I did like the action on the Micro Magic Heavy and Kelly Jordan White Ice. That being said I wouldn't purchase another at any Price!!!

I love the sensitivity of my micro magic pros, but have to admit I have replaced a bunch of the eyes over the years.

About 2 years ago I made the switch from those mesh rod sleeves to neoprene sleeves and haven't broken an eye since.

However, I have broken more eyes on the 3 Ducketts I own, than my other 12 or so rods combined. I don't know if it was just because they were the only 3 micro guides I own or not.

I have 3 of them and I like them very much. I am going to be ordering me a new Wheeler spinning rod in the next month if they hold to their way of putting them on sale around first of June. The 3 I have, I purchased on sale for I think $104 dollars each. I am just a weekend fisher and just for fun not tournaments.

They're very light and sensitive, I really enjoy using them. But, they are very delicate and prone to breaking one way or another.

WOW, what are you doing with your rods that you break so many guides? I have had inserts pop out but I have never broken a guide on the rod.

Most of the time I leave the sleeves in my rod box and just slide the rods out. I think the micro guides were sticking through the sleeves and I was breaking them when I was sliding the rod out. Haven’t broken one since I switched to neoprene sleeves.

Never happened with my other rods, but don’t have any other micro guides, so I think that was my problem.

Rule number one!

* Never buy a rod with another mans name on it.

Yeah it’s just a sales tactic, way too many “signature series” out there with the latest and greatest pro. I’m sure they are all decent for the price but you aren’t getting a really good stick. It just depends on what level of equipment you are in the market for. You get what you pay for.

they would have to be real cheap before I would buy one, I like the feel of them but have broke to many guides on hook sets.
