great choice, loads up well for long casts, great length to help sweep into the hookset, plenty of backbone to get them up and to the boat. I have mine paired with the lews wide spool high speed reel with bigger handles. pretty sweet setup for someone that doesn't prefer to fish the old ball and chain!

Thad and Ronnie, is the 4 power stout enough? I’m not real familiar with Dobyns rods, although I bought two not long ago. I haven’t been able to use them much due to recent shoulder surgery.

I have had a rv on Fork for over 10 years now, and Carolina rig is by far my favorite and best way to catch fish there. I got to make up my mind and get set back up. Thanks for everybody’s suggestions.

Never mind, going with the 4.

Yes the 4 power loads up really well helping you make long casts and since it is a fast action the backbone comes into play quickly. I use the Dobyns 784 for 3/4 - 1 oz. rigs and the 734 for 1/2 oz and less. I tried the 745 Extreme for C-rigging once and I felt it was too stiff. The 4 power worked better for me.

I like the 784 so much that I have 3 of them. Many people also like it for throwing a flutter spoon.
The 804 wasn't out when I bought the 784, well all three of them.

They have a bunch of trade in rods there in Sulfur Springs.

Dobyns Champion 804c Carolina rig special. DX784 will work also. I prefer longer rods for fishing out deep.

Yes, for me at least 7’6”-7’8”. I fish some pretty deep water.

Another vote for the Dobyns 804C. It's perfect for the Carolina Rig. If you can pick up the one for $145, I would jump on it!

I recently purchased a DC764 and used it a couple of weeks ago, and I love the 4 power, and the length of this rod for C-Riggin....By far my favorite rod for this technique, and you can purchase them from AMAZON, that ships directly from American Legacy

The 4 power on the 804 is more stout than the shorter 734. I've had the same experiences as ezbassin. I liked my 784 Extreme for c-rigging so much that I bought a 2nd one. That's why I have the 804 up for sale along with a couple of other rods that aren't getting used enough. I also tried a 745 extreme at one point, but now I use it for dragging jigs and big worms instead of c-rigs.
