Thanks again for all of the kind words. Let me try to clear up some questions. Yes we do eat these and they are very tasty. (Not much different than the pork you buy at the store) One of my hobbies is sausage making and I have a meat grinder and sausage press at home. If it is a larger hog we will usually drop it off at the meat processing plant and for about $70 you come back about a week later and have everything from pork chops to sausage all wrapped up nice and neat in butcher paper waiting for you. The smaller pigs were juveniles that weighed about 20 pounds. The smaller one was selected because we wanted one to put whole on the smoker and unless you have a huge smoker 20 to 30 pounds is about maximum. When a hog is a "baby" it is about the size of a football, these were about 30-inches long. I can see from the pictures that one might mistakenly get the impression that we were "Killin' cute and cuddly babies", but I assure that was not the case. Even at this young age the damage they can cause from rooting and foraging for food is astounding. If you don't believe me do a Google image search for feral hog damage and take a gander at what they can do. I did not post these pictures on here to offend anyone or to stir the pot; I just wanted to show a perspective to a pig hunt that is not usually captured on film.

200 pounds? as an avid hog hunter, judging by the size of the piglets, i would say 110 max...closer to 80. no offense, but one of the most common things in hunting is overestimating hog weight
awesome pics though, very good camera work
PB Common Carp....... 38 lbs PB Mirror Carp........12 lbs 8 oz PB SM Buffalo........ 53 lbs PB Grasser........... 48 lbs 4 oz PB Blue cat.......... 17 lbs (caught on maize)

awesome pics though, very good camera work Think you got my story and his pics confused Big Ted. OOOPS! Take that back. Went back and reread the first post and saw what you were talking about there Big Ted. I do agree. Not 200. But then again I can't say cause I wasn't there and pics don't always do justice.

awesome pics though, very good camera work No offense taken, but this is what I can tell you. It took all 3 of us giving it ever thing we had to carry that hog 3 feet at a time up the hill.( I have some video of that, and it looks like 2 monkeys humping a football. after the photographer filmed for a few minutes and saw that 2 of us could not get the pig up the hill he had to put down the camera and come help) I don't think that 110 lbs would have given us that much of a problem. It is tough to get size reference in the photo and the sow makes the smaller pigs look a lot smaller than they are. The other thing I can tell you is that I didn't care if she was 80, 100, 200, or 300 lbs, when she started charging us I about pooped myself.

As an avid hog hunter that sucker was heavy but I will concede that if you combine the dead weight and the mud it was difficult to get a hold. At 8 yards she looked like a truck, but said and done she was 170+.

good job friend i guess you couldnt kill all of them, because of the charge. great photos, and good job on a rifle shot from that distance, scope would be a drawback.

Those look like piglets....or something. What happens to the surviving litter without the mom? Hopefully, a coyote or bobcat will make short work of them. They're feral hogs, and they are destructive and are prolific breeders. Those are some great shots! Thanks for sharing them! ****SARCASM ALERT**** This is a disgrace. I think that the ever invasive, destructive, non-native feral hog should brought to GAME animal status in the State of Texas. I also believe that the catch and release should be strictly enforced with feral hogs. We could start a new club "HCA" Hog Catchers of America and threaten legal action with anyone whom disagrees with us!!! ******** Just Kidding****** Invasive non-native species need no protection. I am just being a horses rear. I used to live about 20 miles from Cross Plains and I killed a few hogs in the Hog Creek area and The Pecan Bayou area. They are taking over!!! Great pictures.
