Thanks for the input ocelot. I will try to work on mine this winter. I use a taped net sometimes and the cool thing is you can see the tape line as it descends so you can get a feel for how open it is under water. My lake Cedar Creek is usually pretty stained, but last weekend I could see the net until it was about 3 feet down.

I throw a Tape net in water anything over 15. I throw the 7ft Betts tape net. For shallow water I throw a 7 foot Mako. Good net that wont break the bank

The only cast net for me is one that has a Perfect Circle Net Thrower installed in it ! Outstanding for water no more than 10 foot deep.

Ocelot - I can see the braid being easy to work with for repairs and better/easier to tie but does the braid on the net now get hung up on stuff easier and is it tougher on the bait and/or the fish you release after netting?
