Recently noticed I was not getting top end from engine. Pulled prop and found about 20 yds of fluorocarbon line around shaft. Checked trolling motor and found same issue. You might want to spend a few minutes and check yours. Could save big headache.

If it was enough to slow your motor , it may have been enough to eat up your seals

Yes it could be. I serviced the lower unit with fresh lubricant. So far no leaves noted on shop floor. Fingers still crossed.
