They stopped producing them in the USA to cut costs so maybe there was financial trouble? Not at all! Which rod are you looking for Champion? Ill see what I can find out for you. My bad, I didn't realize the Caras are still being made here, I still love the lowriders I bought 10 years ago, hated to see them go.

I hear all the talk about over seas. But guys, quality is still there. Trust me. Just go lay hands on them and see. Southwest Parts, Fishin World, Olsens, Brannans, Porters, FNS, and Academy all have them.

MADE IN CHINA!!!!!!! its OUR OWN FAULT! we demand premium quality products at a entry level price point. sounds familiar dont it? im probably more to blame than most because im a union member and i preach buy american but i fish with chinese rods and japanese reels. my new slogan will be BUY AMERICAN WHEN YOU CAN! at least falcon is passing the savings on to the consumer. lowriders were $149 made in america. now theyre $129 made where everything else is.......

Caras are still being built here. Is that for ones already built and the new models come from China? It appears that the expert are China models too.

I think it's just supply and demand. Falcon has built a growing reputation as the best rod for the money. If you do a google search for best rod for $100, the Bucoo and Jason Christie models get mentioned the most frequently on multiple web sites. The $100 price point is a popular one with most anglers.

I had my doubts about the China rods but the new lowrider looks and feels pretty nice. Hated to see the bucoo go, it was as good as any high end rod.

Me to, chinese tackle just tends to be junk and fraught with quality control issues. Japanese made reels on the other hand, I'll take those all day long and again tommorrow, best reels ever built.

I bought a Bucco at Cabelas in Ft. Worth two weeks ago. They had them priced at $100. Not sure if that's the normal rate but the guy said they were on sale. They still had about 10 of them left.

I was using Falcon rods for the last year or so, but when I found out they moved part of thier operation overseas I started looking at other rod companies. A buddy turned me on to a Kistler rod (made here in Texas), so I have been replacing all my other rods with kistlers. Love em, to me, way more sensitive then the Falcons. Yes, retail price is a little higher, but between Black Friday sales, and ones I found used, I have been able to replace the Falcons and not break the bank. Only one I need now is a 7-6 heavy for flipping.
And as for customer service, I was looking for a rod for jerk baits, called Kistler, spoke with the man Trey (owner) himself, he took the time to explain the different models and what might be a good choice. That to me is worth a few extra dollars on the price.
