Is the jackhammer worth the money vs. other bladed jigs? They get bit. Worth the money? Depends on your personal opinion. Others may feel it is a waste. I agree. I like then better than any other chatter bait that I have thrown. Now if it is worth the money, that is totally up to you to decide.

I wont throw anything else. I finally broke down and bought a few. Had 27 pounds yesterday. 4, 5 pounders and a 7. Had 21 pounds in the first 30 mins of fishing. Now looking online and buying anything I can find in the 2 colors I need.

I am a chatterbait fanatic and have thrown about everything. The Jack Hammer is by far the best. It is built with quality componets and needs no fine tuning straight out of the package. It makes a lot more noise and put off more vibration. It also does a better job staying down in the water column. Another cool thing is the head design allows you to be able to skip the bait really well. BPS tries to screw you at 20 buck but I order on tackle warehouse for 16 bucks.

I always buy a white because depending on trailer you can change color options like white chartruse. Then black bue is a staple. If i could only choose one it would be either a 3/8 or 1/2 oz in black blue.

I'm kind of a bladed jig nut too and I'm never happy with a bait straight out of the package no matter what the cost. This spring I was at CB with a buddy and hooked a fish of about 9 pounds. First jump the bait comes flying back at me. I make a couple more casts and notice the bait is not vibrating right. Upon inspection of the bait I notice the Decoy snap that comes on the bait had opened up. The Decoy line of products are top notch I am sure but may be a bit light duty for this particular bait. I am sure Shimizu chose that particular snap for a reason but CB fish are not ordinary fish. I did have 65 braid tied straight to the bait so there wasn't much of anything to absorb the shock of the fish thrashing around. It wasn't like I was pulling that hard on the fish. I suppose it was the way the fish had the bait in her mouth. I don't feel it is a defect, however it is a fairly light duty snap when you look at it compared to the Owner snaps. I am sure when Hite & Shimizu designed the bait they tried several snaps on the bait trying to achieve what they felt was the best compromise of strength & freedom of movement. I replaced the snap with an Owner 72# Hyper-Wire snap and have been very happy with the bait ever since. Replacing the snap is kind of tricky. Reminded me of one of those brain teaser puzzles. I will add this. There are several local bait companies that make a quality product as well. Finch Nasty Thumper is one of them. Great product by a great guy.

I own 1 Jackhammer I bought on a whim before a trip to Lake Fork. I caught a few small fish on it that weekend. I like the components, especially the hook. It is much stouter than other bladed jigs I've used. I just ordered some Chatterbait Elites the other day I like the Gama hook on them also but I have to change the skirts out because I think the Z-man EZ skirts look crappy.

I fished them in Canada for large Northern Pike and caught numerous fish weighing over 10 pound and the biggest was 43 inches and weighted over 20 pounds and they held up. I did have one where the snap bent but like I said I was catching huge northerns on them with 50 pound braid.
