Jaret.. that is springs of the past. Remember the two 12's from 2017, or the 3 11's from this year. They have been averaging at least one over per hour for several years now.

Only 17 overs and a 3+ pound under??? That settles it, I'm not going back to Fork (at least not until after this weekend anyway). You must have missed the part where the guy said he caught a 7 pound under back in March...

I've been fishing Fork for years and never caught an over. Had several between 23 and 24, but no overs.
17 in one day? That's awesome, and I don't care how many entries there are. If there were 17 overs, there had to be a ton of big slots being caught too. Bet it was a fun day for a lot of folks.

I forgot when you were here, but afterwards I saw you posting from down south.Looking for adventure and bigger fish? I would if I were in your shoes. LOL
Still not sure what you find offensive. Id expect a lot more overs with 2700 entrants on a lake with the reputation of Fork. I know Im not alone but clearly not many others will chime in now after the few of you being so offended by a simple post. But yes I was on Falcon in Feb and again in March and then went to Fork in March also on the way home I think for at combined total of 6 weeks. I guess Falcon is adventure in it self to some people because of all the bad guys? Bigger fish has nothing to do with why I was down there, I dont ice fish and since the ice out was in April....... Again sorry your so offended, Ill be in Texas again when I move my son into Baylor, hopefully thats ok!? Also looking to by a place in Waco or Austin area so thats why Ive been going down there in the first place.

he did not catch a 7 lb under. The biggest under that I am aware of was caught at the Skeeter about 8 to 10 years ago by a lady. It weighed in at 3.50 and was only 15 1/2". A true football. And there was another heavy under caught a couple of years ago too.
I believe he said it was a 7 something over which is not unusual. Those old bass begin to loose weight. A guy had a 28" bass that only went 6 + back in the winter.

I know he didnt catch a 7 pound under; pretty sure he meant slot. But his quote was I did get my pb on my 3rd cast in March but nothing locals would brag about at 7.89 and a under.

Jeff, not historically.
Year's ago I think the McDonald had something like 3 dozen on 3500 entries. They have not broken 3000 in I'd say 10 years. Basically since the gas prices went up. They usually have around two dozen overs.
The average for the big tournaments is usually around 12-15 not counting McDonald. So day one at 17 looks to be a record in the making for Skeeter.
The lake is just fishing real good right now and will probably continue as long as the water levels stay up.

Wow you could be a bit nicer......dont you represent LFA? Still doesnt compare to when the lake was full of grass AND before the kill. But yes lake is fishing great now after two years of high water and heavy cover (willows that grew up during the drought) coming out of the drought. He was down just after the big rains and water was super muddy. Was tough then. Think what it would be with some hydrilla all over the lake again......

I do think you are uninformed however. A 24" largemouth is kind of like a 6' 4" man. Sure there are a lot of them scattered out across the nation but how many live in Des Moines? A PRIME example is the 13.78 caught in the Legend Boat event two weeks ago. That fish was 24 1/4" Long! Many bass will NEVER get to 24" long but they may still weigh 10-12#. There are quite a few SAL fish that were not 24" long recorded over the years. Cameron Burnett of LFM weighed this SAL that went 13.22 that was 23" long! https://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/visitorcen...html?fishid=291 https://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/visitorcen...html?fishid=237 Here is a 14.15 from Fork that was 23.5" long!

On the other hand, back when the slot was 14-21 a lady weighed in an over that weighed a tad over 3-1/2 pounds. Looked like a trout. Length doesn't always dictate weight.

Something else I would like to point out. I hear about bass that are 28-29" long from time to time and I always question how the angler measured them.
I have witnessed several folks that have pulled out a tape measure and held it at the nose of the fish and pulled it up & over the fish's body to the tail. They come up with 28" on a fish that is actually only 24.
No offense meant to the folks that have done this but it ain't the proper way to measure fish.
