Cattle are not turned lose in fidlds of standing corn to feed.
Corn is processed and fed in feed lots.
Cattle do not spend all their lives in a bare ground feedlot.
They at some time or another graze in pasture.......
Or do they?

Cattle arent raised like chickens, are they?

As for the OP, not a fan of the all natural grass fed beef. Seems a little stringy to me

My experience is pretty negative. Compared to grain fed beef, it has very little taste and can go from acceptable to dry and tasteless in a matter of seconds. I dont eat a lot of steak, but when I do I want one with a lot of beef flavor. Ill take grain fed every time.

I prefer beef finished off on grain. When I want grass fed, I chose an Exotic animal such as a Nilgai or a Scimitar Oryx and kill it. You have a cool trophy to put on the wall, and meat that has the texture and tastes like grass fed beef.

There is a TFF'r that sells grass feed beef around the Poetry area. I thinks its $5-$6lb starting at a 1/4 cow

there is a very big difference between the two. I grow and sell grass fed/finished beef.
Each have great qualities.

Grass fed will be much leaner- but does have fat just not as much as grain fed.
Grass fed beef will gain 1-1.5lbs a day vs. 2-4lbs on grain depending on the concoction they are fed and if hormones are added.
Grass fed beef does have a different taste.
Grass finished beef will cook faster than grain finished
Grass finished will be higher in CLA- healthy fat
Grass finished will be higher in Omeag 3s
Grass finished will be higher in Vitamin E
Grass fed will be a more red color
Grass fed will have a white fat and grain a more yellow color fat

Both are good. Both have great qualities.

Hope this info helps you

the 'grass fed' meat i have bought from the store - meh - not worth the $ diff

the meat i get from an 800lb calf who ate nothing but grass on my aunt's ranch in OK - holy_S its outta this world. hamburger patty with no seasoning tastes rich, its unbeatable.

I am going to eat chicken or fish in place of grass fed beef, when I eat beef I want the best, grain fed and aged with plenty of marble. I guess I could do burgers, roast, fajitas with grass fed beef, but a steak, nada.

Most experiences are going to be different with grass fed if you eat a grass finished steer that is not breed for this its going to be terrible! If you buy a steer that is breed to finish well , lets say an Angus and Devon heifer cross with Wagu bull and you grow and eat that steer finished on grass- game over.

Your buying grass fed at the store- what grass? What breed? Did they grow the steer for $$ or for the benefit of the customer? Did they cut corners? Lots of variables here.

Compare it to genetics of bass. I can get bass at my pond but are they the genetics that TP&W have through years of genetic evaluation to create the best. Uhh no. BUT the genetics of my grass fed beef is not just regular genetics, its far superior through genetic evaluation to finish well on grass with great marbeling.

At the end of the day- Beef is good and either choice is a good choice.
