No you chop the throttle and when the wake catches up to you give it a little throttle...Learn how to drive. Yep the old "Champion stop".

My Champion will do it if I just go from full throttle to stop. Easy to prevent. Like said before, slow it down, dont just stop it, lower the trim or when you stop fast you know it is going to happen just throttle forward a bit right before it hits.

Going from full throttle to nothing is how you break a reed and blow a powerhead if you're running a mercury.

My bass boats did it, my bay boat don't.

I've owned 3 Skeeters, 95 ZX185C, 03 ZX250, and 05 Zx225... if I went from running down the lake to completely off the throttle all 3 boats would have water come over the back, not a tidal wave or enough to get to me in the drivers seat but a decent amount of water. I've always feathered it down. same

Drill (3) 3" holes in the back on each side, put PVC thru them so water does not get into the top cap, and you just made it a self baler, problem solved. Might hurt the resale though! Drill 3 holes in the transom? Recipe for disaster.
Retirement best job ever.

Yep, listen to the guys that say to trim down all the way before stopping and it should stop coming over the back. I have to do it in my Champion or the throttle thing, easier to trim down though.

I like the smartazz answers the best,..the guys that think they know it all,...after I got through that, the information was good... Sorry I didn't mean to come off that way but after reading the post I guess I did. Also I should have said back off hotfoot and when wake catches up give it a little throttle and wake will ride right under the boat......

I put a "holeshot plate on my champ. didn't do much for holeshot, however it does catch water on stopping and holds the stern up a little longer , reduced the throttle feathering.

My skeeter does it if I shut down quick. I'm just in a habit of slowing down to a stop. 2013 TZX 190.

Trimming down as you slow down will help a lot.
