I don't know what to say about this but it is true. This phrasing is also used in Las Vegas... not surprising half the people who live in Vegas are from California.

And not one of those roads in Austin is a loop. Go figure.

Mopac is short for mo packed than all the other roads in rush hour.

Amarillo calls 335 "the loop" as well.
