I would like to hear from the left wingers on the subject of the guy that tried to kill Republican politicians on a baseball field with a semi-auto 7.62 SKS rifle that held 30rds per mag.
I don't remember one single gun hater ever squealing about gun control after that incident. Wonder why that is?

I'm surprised by the number of gun owners who claim their guns are for hunting, not for shooting another human being. I don't hunt. The only reason I own my handguns or shotgun is In case I have to shoot someone. That is not the only reason to own a gun. I have several pistols and shot guns in my camper. I have always had at least a shot gun sinse I was a kid. Never thought much about using it on humans. Rabbits an squirrels yes, another person no. I always owned guns cause it was pretty much a family tradition going back to pioneer days.

I guess what I don't understand is why all the animosity towards AR-type rifles? Tactically speaking, within the confines of a building you are probably better off with a pistol. I wouldn't want a rifle until targets are beyond 30 yards or so. With a minimal amount of training or practice one can shoot a semi-auto handgun just as fast as they can the rifle.
Remember back in the early 90's that guy that shot up the Luby's? He had two 9mm pistols and killed 23 people. Injured another 27. Back then AR-style rifles were illegal. So how could there be mass shootings?
It just simply doesn't make sense to go after the tool. Please go back and show us the laws that made AR style weapons illegal. They were never illegal. The 'ban' put some pretty severe restrictions on them which made the price go through the roof. Words matter, use the correct ones.

Wow, This went all over everywhere. Was not my intention to start a gun debate In my younger years, I would have most likely corrected him on his definition. Now days, just not worth it truthfully. I have a couple ARs, and not once have either of them "assaulted" anybody.
The problem we have today is not guns, its ignorance....That ignorance is being passed down to younger generations.

The only difference between a semi auto AR and a semiauto "hunting" rifle is the looks. Both have the exact same action. I do think full auto ARs should not be easy for the general public to obtain. I have no use for fully automatic weapons and see no reason for anyone else to own one.

Its sad that if you think common sense and guns go together you are a left winger calling someone a left winger or the equivalent is something that given by those without the intellectual capacity to give a rational response.

yall been talking all night and STILL the only argument you have is 1. you dont know what AR stands for? at this point we all know 2. guns arent made to kill people? When I was taught about guns I was told that at the end of the day every gun was made to kill stuff 3. AR are the same as any other semi-auto? sort of, but there isnt a group called Semi-Auto Nation Can we move past these 3 insane meaningless points

We have mental institutions? Other than aTm, where are they located?
Wow, it didnt even take a college football thread for you to bring up A&M. Typical tsip dbag. dbag? If you were someone respectable I'd be offended. Then again, if you were a respectable person you wouldn't be calling others names. Did I stutter? There is a somewhat serious discussion going on about AR-15s and you feel the need to drag A&M through the mud and call us a mental institution.
