For you guys with the 6.2, how do you like it towing? Been looking hard at an '18 Max Tow Pkg. Drove the '18 yesterday and that 6.2 rips, though. Coming from a Duramax back to a gas motor and it scares me to death. I don't have a real need for the diesel anymore as all I pull is my bass boat and maybe a car hauler now and then. Can I get some input from those who pull with one?

I have a '15, 1500 that I pull a 21' center console with and it handles it just fine. This was my first gas in many years as I have always had diesel 3/4 tons. Much quieter and does just fine. Had a torque converter problem that apparently was a common problem. Make sure they have found a solution to whatever caused it.

I have a 2017 6.2 and had a 2014 6.2. Night and day difference, the 8 speed gearing takes off and pulls
2015 ZX250 like it's not there. Normally get 13-14 mpg towing. 25 best hwy without. It's awesome!

If only GM would offer the 6.2 in a basic truck, I would consider it strongly, however, you have to buy a loaded out truck to get one.

Same...I had an 11' silverado that had zero options except for power windows/locks/leather randomly enough plus the 6.2. Loved it. I want another one now for a daily driver (I have a duramax for serious towing) but I refuse to pay what they want for a loaded 1/2 ton.

one reason I drive a Tundra. I just could not convince myself to buy the 5.3 with AFM. Too many of them with problems. I have also heard of lifter problems on the 6.2s.

Couple posts down there is a post about towing with a v-6 Tacoma. The general concensus is it will tow anything. I think a bass boat, your car hauler and even most tongue pull TT's will be a walk in the park for your 6.2L.

We have a GMC Yukon with the 6.2 and it pulls our boat just fine. But.......I'm willing to bet you will really miss that Duramax and wish you still had it. :-)

I agree with this but to an extent. I have an 07 Duramax, the wife has a 6.2 AWD yukon currently, and I've had a 1/2 ton 6.2 silverado.

My take:

I have my D-max for towing heavy but I don't tow heavy all the time. Saying that, it's tuned, pre-emissions, and has a few bolt on motor items. Largely stock but it will move even with a heavy trailer. But, if we are just pulling a boat (heaviest one in the family fleet is probably 7.5K lbs on the trailer loaded for the weekend) I generally choose the wife's yukon. It will comfortably cruise the highways with a boat way faster than is appropriate. I don't miss my duramax at all if we are towing a boat or anything lighter. It's also tons smoother than my 1-ton. I haven't been able to drive a new GM truck with the 6.2 but I'm sure i'd love it. The only reason I got rid of my 6.2 1/2 ton is once it got up there in miles it really made more sense for me to have two trucks ...

In short, 6.2's are awesome.

I think people are just vocal about the AFM problems. It's also something that can be turned off. I've had probably 10x 5.3s in the last decade and not a one had problems.

10 in the last decade is one a year the arm problems come with age and miles no small wonder you haven�t experienced problems.

I thought it might be that the people with problems complain the most. Maybe same with torque converters. I felt uncomfortable enough to not take a chance. I had some real good prices on Silverados and would say as far as features go they are a better choice than Toyotas.

I buy and sell trucks quite a bit, several of those are higher mileage, and i drive about 40k a year.

I happened to have my wife's uncles 6.2 while I was in the middle of cutting down a giant tree.

I hauled three loads with it, that I'm very sure were well over the 10k pound mark. The last load especially, and the only issue I noticed was braking and I believe if I'd had the trailer brakes doing their thing right it wouldn't have been a issue at all. It had plenty of umph to get going, but no doubt you knew it was back there, and I'm really glad I had that truck as my truck with the old 5.7 vortec would've struggled big time.

My only complaint about this truck in particular is it isn't 4x4, and where I was dumping this, nearly got me in a bind. Otherwise, its a beast, especially without a trailer! I'd think it'd pull a bass boat no big deal.
