It can get windy, but find the calmest day and go to Wheeler Branch at least once. Join DFW kayak group on Facebook.

there are a few places on eagle mountain where you can put in and fish protected waters, indian creek RV park charges to fish there I think 5 bucks, there is also a public boat ramp in newark way up in the north end of the lake.

so a lot of the feeder creeks/rivers around here are great for kayak fishing - due to flooding they usually have high banks that kill a lot of the wind (though the amount varies based on direction and location). I personally have enjoyed the elm fork trinity between ray roberts and lewisville. As well as trophy club feeding into grapevine. There are some really sheltered coves in grapevine as well (north side)
Though i haven't done it the trinity below lewisville might be alright as well (though from what i've seen it doesn't have the high banks as much).

My daughter and I went kayaking on the elm fork in 30 mph winds and barely saw a ripple on the water. Tall trees and high banks blocked the winds so well.

IConn4,
I drive over the bridge on the NW corner of Lake Palestine on the way into Chandler, then on to Tyler. We take this back road to Tyler sometimes instead of traveling down 31. Hmm? I see all the stumps, the old bridge, the bridge we go over, the standing timber all around. It looks like it'd be paradise for kayaks. Looks "fishy." My understanding is only those very knowledgeable regarding Lake Palestine fish the north side of the lake from bass boats . . . preferring to stay down to the south out of all the stumps. But, they claim that those who do fish the north side catch really nice sized bass.
Where do you put in? What part of the lake are your photos showing?
Looks great! Brad
